A question about : Help! is this quote any good at all?

Hi all, I'm looking to get some feedback on the price / quality of my quote. I'm looking for a basic system as I'm not overloaded with money and this is what I have got so far, can I get a bit of feedback as to price and to the quality of the materials. I am getting a few more quotes in the next weeks which I would also appreciate advise on.

Quote one

15 hisunage p60pcs 250 w pv modules 10 yr warranty product defects in materials, 10 years 90% output, 25 years 80% output

Omnitel 4.0 tl inverter 10 year warranty

Capacity 3.75kwp
Roof angle 40
Orientation 10
Shade factor 0.92
Estimated output 3309

Total cost 5493.30 estimated 7.3 years pay for itself.

Okay experts please tell he if this is any good, what is not good enough and opinions on the price please. This is my first quote and I'm trying to learn all about it so helpful advise please :-)

  • A question for you -
Have they quoted you for 15 panels due to limited roof space? If so you can get panels (e.g. 270w or 300w) which can sometimes work out the same price and which will get you nearer to the 4kw mark.
Estimated generation and payback seem reasonable (depending on whereabouts in the UK you are).
Price seems OK although I've not heard of the Omnitel inverter (there seem to be a lot of new makes on the market recently) although there have been some quoted on here around that price for 4kw systems with a SMA inverter.
  • I'd say the quote is maybe a tad expensive for materials you've mentioned. As PW22 says, there are higher wattage panels available to make the most of your roof space and for the price you've been quoted I'd like to think you'd get a 4kWp system with more popular brands rather than 3.75kWp
Why not post your rough location, then maybe someone can give you a recommendation.
  • Thanks tunnel, I'm grateful the advise, I was thinking it was a bit steep in the right general area but up for negotiation.
I'm in Norfolk if anyone can recommend I would like to get some more quotes. I have 2 more lined up but a few more wouldn't hurt
  • Thanks I've contacted both the companies you recommended. One was also recommended by tunnel too!
  • Quote 2 - 15 sharp panels and sunny boy sma inverter Ј4600
    Opinions please!
  • If no-one will quote you for higher wattage panels to get closer to 4kWp and your happy with a 3.75kWp system(assuming 250W panels) then I'd say that's a pretty damn good quote, one of my systems has sharp panels(245W) with an SMA sunnyboy and it performs bang on..no arguments with it at all!!
  • the panels that get closer to 4kw are alot more expensive so im thinking stick with the 250 ones that makes it more affordable
