Guttering Fascias & Soffits

A question about : Guttering Fascias & Soffits

Hi,

i'm trying to track down a few other firms in Bristol to get quotes but I've had one that doesn't seem too dreadful.

1940's Semi, the above all around, with 2 downpipes house is 7m x 9m

The current guttering has asbestos, however the current boards and fascias/soffits are solid with no sign of any decay so am going for the attachment of PVC as opposed to the full replacement and are being done more for decorative purposes.

• Not bad is it white ? Any apex ? Is it a hip side . easy access . price is good and fair tbh without knowing more

• Whites cheaper for soffits and facial gutters all about the same regardless of black white grey . prime all timbers before cladding over them and fill any holes . they will keep longer . capped screws not polytops too . its worth the extra .
• Do not have your boards covered this makes the original timbers sweat and so rot quicker it is far better to have them removed all be it costing about Ј300 more .As for Greenfaces advice to use caps and screws i cannot understand why this is better than stainless steel polytop nails which are designed for fascia and soffit installation
• If your fixing into your soffits without removing the timbers underneath trying to get a decent fix into it with polytops knocking underneath into often 6mm ply or similar will make something that's not fixed great a lot less fixed . plus they are much easier to get back out . cup caps are also designed for plastic installation .poly tops are fine just my humble opinion .
