A question about : Green MoneySaving Welcome and Introduction

Sometimes going cheap can hurt the environment. This board's been set up to counter that. How do you live life the MoneySaving way, but protect our planet too?

As environmental issues impact right across our lives, the issue is of course duplicated elsewhere, such as organic food buying in MoneySaving Old Style. Yet my aim is this is a forum that will cover cost cutting and enviromentally friendly and also ethical financial issues too.

• excellent, excellent!! Thanks for setting this up MSE. Green/ethical issues need to be bumped up the agenda as moneysaving can unfortunately sometimes come at the expense of ethical considerations.
  Anyone interested in this board should also pay a visit to the MoneySaving Old Style board. A lot of the themes are the same. I hope the 2 boards will complement each other.

• 'save cash and save the planet' is a brilliant book from friends of the earth...it's £12.99 from their website https://www.foe.co.uk/living/save_cash_save_planet/ but i'm sure you moneysavers will find it cheaper somewhere else! I bought it about a year ago and it's paid back every penny i spent on it many many times over!
• This might seem a daft question, I have only just seen this board and the suggestion from Martins sticky is that it has only just been set up, if so how come some of the threads go back to 17/05/04 ?
• Good question - perhaps someone's been transferring threads from other Boards?
  Can I add my thanks for this Board too? Sometimes it's depressing seeing the rampant consumerism in places like Grabbit - people buying 14kW patio heaters just because they are cheap, without a thought for the consequence of their use for the environment and even for their own pockets. I hope people around here will be slightly more enlightened.

• Brilliant - I also should have suggested this. I think MSE is brilliant for educating people as to how to make the best use of their money, but things like promoting super-cheap flights sit uneasily with me..
