A question about : Great Grants Hunt

Grant Grabbing Guide: List of all major UK grants for energy, homes, work, education and more.

Thousands of pounds worth of grants go unclaimed each year and they're available for all sorts of wierd and wonderful projects - from energy savings to studying. I'd like to tap MoneySavers' collective knowledge to find the best ones.

What else can you find a grant for and what's the best way to get it?

  • I'm 31, single and live on my own mortgaged house on a fair salary - but one that gets eaten up heftily by mortgage and other living expenses as I live alone. I often wonder if there are any grants available for people like me, who are on above average salaries but, because of being single, still can struggle a bit. I know about tax exemption on the first chunk of renting a room but wondered if anyone knew of anything else? Cheers, S
  • I've had a look and I think if you were to be insulating your home and making it more energy efficient you may be eligible for some help. You could contact your local Council to ask them about home improvement grants and grants for making your home more energy efficient. There is a website I came across re grants available for landlords but it may be only for houses that are let out, not rooms. Not sure. May be worth having a look though.

The classes are available at centres in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Luton and Bedford. They do state a small admin fee may apply. May be worth a look if you do trade internationally though.
