A question about : Freewheelers EVS

https://www.freewheelers.org.uk

Freewheelers EVS is a registered charity that provides an out of hours emergency courier service to hospitals in the Wiltshire, Bath, Bristol and Somerser area of England. We use specially equipped motorcycles to transport blood, drugs, tissue samples, x-rays, patient notes and other urgerntly needed medical supplies. The service operates through the night from 7:00pm to 7:00am and all day weekends and bank holidays.

Freewheelers EVS is run by volunteers and does not charge the NHS for its services. The charity is entirely supported by donations from the public and by sponsorship from any company that we can strongarm into supporting us. If we did not provide our service then hospitals would have to resort to calling a taxi, which can prove very costly and is not guaranteed to be available like we are at 11:00pm on a Saturday night! Plus we can use the bikes' blue lights and sirens to get through the worst traffic in an emergency situation.

We are always looking for new supporters - either to donate money or to join us as a volunteer rider/fundraiser/coordinator. There is a PayPal donation facility on our website or simply get in contact for details of how to send donations to our treasurer.

At the moment I am trying to compile a list of other charities that provide a similar service. There is another Freewheelers charity based in Yeovil and a group that operate in London/Surrey/Sussex - https://www.serv.org.uk

best wishes,
