A question about : Free prescriptions for 60 year old

Hi,

My DH is now 60. I've just found out he will get free prescriptions and eye tests, but I can't seem to find out how he claims for them. Could someone tell me please?

Do over 60s still have to pay for a dental check up?

He is working full time, and neither of us claim any benefits.

Thanks,
Candy

  • Hi I turned 60 late last year. Re the prescriptions on the back of the prescription is a list of several options. Just tick the one for 60 or over. Your age is printed on the front of the prescription at the top. I have not yet had my eyes tested since turning 60 but am sure they will tell you in the opticians. HTH
  • I am 63 and female. I get free eye tests, free prescriptions, and have to pay for dental check ups and treatment. I didn't know that men get this as well, I thought it was linked to retirement age. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not a man,

  • I got my bus pass at 61 but never use it. As I have a car, cycle and legs to walk it does not seem right to me.
However two people I know use theirs all the time. This probеbly explains why they are having to visit the doctors a lot because of lack of exercise.
  • Hi prescriptions and eye tests are the only thing we get at 60 everything else is linked to the state pension age. The optician asked me if I paid for eye tests.
  • oopps sorry did not mean to mislead anyone x
  • Don't forget the concessions and discounts that company's, shops etc offer such as pensioners (hate that word ) discount on lunches out, cinema, theatre, travel .........it all helps

  • Why is it that dental treatment isnt included in the over 60s savings?
