Water under floor

A question about : Water under floor

I live in a semi-detached bungalow built in 1959/60. The local area has a very high water table. A few days ago my neighbours in the adjoining bungalow complained that water from my property was leaking from under my floor onto their sub floor.

Anyone else had to move out of their home?

A question about : Anyone else had to move out of their home?

Hi,
Just wondered how others are getting on in this situation? We are in a rented flat whilst our house is sorted.

Insurance co have been great. Floors have been taken up and plaster board taken off up to waist height. Big industrial dryers on 24/7 so just waiting for it to dry out now. Don't know how long that will take or how long it will take to put right once dry.

Gap between window frame and the opening bit

A question about : Gap between window frame and the opening bit

My partner and I have recently bought a new build house in Wigan. We have had loads of problems with it (it took 5 months to fix a leak in the guttering) and last night we slept in a different bedroom because of the wind. When we got into the bedroom we noticed it was freezing in there and very noisy. When I went over to the window I felt wind coming through between the frame and the opening part of it. When I stepped back I could see the street between these 2 parts.

Boiler flue/chimney question

A question about : Boiler flue/chimney question

It appears that the flue of the old oil boiler that is sited in the garage, goes through the garage wall and into the old chimney stack. (The original fires were removed years ago.)

It it likely that some sort of flue pipe will be carrying on inside the chimney (so any fumes etc will be contained) or will the flue itself end where it joins onto the chimney and the fumes are just being discharged via the chimney itself?

A question about : Help?? we have flooded the bank downstairs.

I am at my witts end, can anybody possibly offer some advice? I am literally shaking with worry.
We live in a flat above a bank. The recently bought the leasehold.
This evening we heard water and ran to the kitchen to notice that the kitchen sink had overflowed.
The kitchen was covered in water as the overflow had not coped with the water.
