A question about : Flight delay compensation
Easyjet flight to Barcelona from Gatwick 29th Dec 2014 cancelled
due to Virgin plane returned with technical problems.
Gatwick closed completely. Next Easyjet flight available was 2 days
later.
Easyjet offered hotel or return taxi fares back to London ( friend's
home) and snack allowance, which was agreed but not reimbursed
yet.
Because Virgin caused the cancellation/delay, Easyjet said no further delay compensation was due from them.
Is this true or can we claim from Virgin for 2 days loss of earnings,
delay compensation or inconvenience ( 2 small children ) food for
4 (2 days ) etc
Thanks in anticipation.

- Excellent draft and have gleaned many relevant pointers from Vauban
report, thank you.
Unfortunately I have not found anything relating to third party responsibilities ie another company caused our flight to be cancelled.
Can we go any further on the forum or would it be advisable to speak to a solicitor?
Regards
maxamillian - you had no contract with Virgin so fail to see how you can claim from them.
re the loss of earnings, airlines are not responsible for consequential losses.
The food etc you should claim from Easyjet under their duty of care responsibilities
Have you spoken to your travel insurance? - We have already sent details to Virgin compensation claim dept. but they have said we might have to wait 28 days for a reply.
My initial post sent to MSE was to try to identify if any precedents
were available for claims against the airline causing the delay.
We accept your advice re loss of earnings and meal reimbursement.
Are there any other passengers on that flight who have made a
similar claim, or posted MSE ( if you have this information ).
Once again thank you for your time.
