A question about : February 2015 'Take your Lunch to Work' Challenge.

It's back, by popular demand- Thanks to those who PM'd me asking me to revive this challenge- your wish is my command title=Wink

Save your Ј's by taking your Lunch To Work (LTW)!

A new thread for February 2015!! Although the title is 'Take Your Lunch to WORK', ANYONE can join in title=Smile You can be a stay-at-home-parent, unemployed, work part time or work full time.
The point is, buying lunch (or breakfast, or both if you were silly like me!!) from the works canteen/the newsagents/the coffee shop etc, is EXPENSIVE!

Save that money to put towards your debt/to save/for a holiday (or whatever you want).

Declare at the start of the month how many days you are aiming for. I will NOT be updating you all (I don't have time), so its up to you to keep track of yourself. I'll add you to the challenge list, along with how many days you are aiming for.

Don't forget if you have a yummy lunch/breakfast idea then tell us all about it!

Here's the lovely lunch ideas - enjoy!

  • It didn't seem right not to have a 'Take your lunch to work' challenge. Thanks!
    I'm not sure that I qualify,since I'm off-sick longterm?
  • Count me in please! This is something I'm terrible at doing. I only work 2 days a week and my excuse is always our work canteen is so cheep and it is but it would be even cheaper to bring my own in. They charge 29p for a cuppa and this is my biggest weekness!!! 5p for hot water, milk & sugar if you bring your own teabag. Going to keep a stash of teabags and 5ps in my locker.
I'm actually only at work for 5 days this month so I aim to do all 5
  • I spent far too much on canteen food in January. I'm in the office 20 days, so I'll aim to do 15 of pre-organised food
  • Added you all up to here
Great to see new people joining!
  • Yes please, count me in for 20 days
I mostly take my own lunches to work already, but it will be good to track it all properly. Because I can't eat wheat and I'm veggie I have no choice really other than planning things in advance. Working in a area of London where salads are Ј6 this can only be a good thing.
Going to aim for 4 days out of 5 of not buying lunch or coffees. We have a proper espresso machine at work so it's silly to buy coffees, but every now and then I like a special one that I can't make myself.
I never buy breakfasts, I've got a box of porridge at work and various toppings so that's sorted.
  • Hi I would love to join in. Thanks for running this thread wantToBeSE Can you put me down for 24 days. I usually take a lunch anyway but I spend a bit on cola so I will be stopping this
  • Now this sounds like a challenge I need! Our canteen closed down at work, and sad as that was, it was too easy to use it as an excuse. My office is right next door to it!!
So could I join in with a target of 20 days? As I need to take lunch every day, that sounds sensible.
I have a stash of flavoured tea, porridge & cup a soups in my drawer. So if I forget to make lunch the night before, I have a plan B.
I usually take homemade soup or salad, but would love something a bit more interesting. I plan on making these peanut butter and banana muffins tomorrow in preparation for breakfasts next week
    https://agirlcalledjack.com/2015/01/2...and-delicious/
Looking forward to having a nosey at everyone else's lunch!
  • Hi all
I would like to join and set a target of 16 days.
    Thanks
  • Can I join please although mine will be take lunch to uni challenge but as I am in 4 days a week it will save me a fortune I am in for 16 days in February so going to aim for all 16 as the food there costs a fortune the rest of the time I'm at home
  • I am for 15 days
Glad to see the thread back
I am having pork pies, egg bites(!) potato salad and green salad this week. This should do 4 days this week.
I do buy meal deals tho? I make them stretch over two days tho cos I am so tight!
  • Good morning challengees!
Welcome to those who have joined us, I have added you all to the list
So, does anyone have ideas of what they are having this week for their lunches?
I'll be having pitta breads stuff with ham and salad tomorrow. Maybe a bit of cheese and some hummus too. Yum!
  • I've just made a big pot of veggie bolognese sauce to have with pasta.I need to make stewed apples with a big pile of sad looking apples.
  • 20days please! I do have lunch at home but can sometimes get side tracked by shops on my way home!! This way I hope to stay on track and also hope to pick up some food ideas, Im very boring! Will be soups and jam butties this week!
    Jodles
