  • when i bought my house it had storage heaters fitted i found these very expensive. last november i got central heating installed and this winter i have saved around Ј130 on my bills. so even though it has cost me to install central heating the savings in the long run will hopefully even it out.
Also with storage heaters i never found it was warm enough and had to buy acouple of other heaters to keep the place warm
  • Same as Servalan. Inefficient and expensive to run. Gas central heating has proved cheaper, house is warmer EVERYWHERE and lasts all day!
  • I had two storage heaters in my house when I bought - i hated them - a cumbersome and inefficent concept and in practice as well - heat only in the day when you are at work - by the evenig they are too cool - "booster" heat expensive to use - so heavy they are a real pain to get rid of but i put in gas central heating. much better I think if you want electric heating only you are much better off with more than one of thse new halogen heaters - cheaper to run, on when you need them and portable -
  • Thanks all. have to have electric heaters sadly. i'll look into the Halogen tho'.
    any other experiences/advice welcome.

  • Why not try an electric central heating system
