A question about : Ebay not recognising my password, and I'm not getting the re-set emails

Hi
I've tried numerous times to log into my ebay account, firstly using the password I believed to be right, then using every other password I can remember, before opting for the re-set password option.

I have requested this done by email and ebay have confirmed an email has been sent to my inbox........many times, as I started this last week and after many attempts am still waiting for an email.

I've tried the text option too, but they only appear to have my landline and although its says I can use a difference phone number, it won't actually let me change it.

I can't see a way of sending a written enquiry and I don't really want to be phoning them, as I don't know how much that will cost?

Has anyone else had any problems with this? I see there was some posts at the end of last year on a similar thing, so maybe ebay is just going through a glitch? title=Embarrassment

  • It's possible that your account was shut down if it hasn't been used for a couple of years, they culled a load of Id's in the recent distant past
If you can see your feedback/account and nothing has changed (it hasn't been hijacked.??) and so long as it hasn't effected your paypal account it may be easier to just register a new ID and start again.
oh and you might want to change your paypal password whilst you are about it..
  • just call them, it should be standard rate.
  • This happened to me once so the only way I could get it sorted was to ring them. Lucky I did because it was due to somebody hacking my account, changing email & password and then listing a load of items, which presumably they didn't even have so were just hoping to sell, grab the money & run. I was advised to change my PayPal password too, which I did, but I think from what I can remember they had actually changed the PayPal account that was linked to it anyway. Better to be safe than sorry though!
  • Try the text option to your landline number. Texts can go to landline numbers.
  • Thanks everyone for your help.
I've just rung them and they sent me a password reset email while I was on the phone and it's all sorted now.
I asked them why it wouldn't let me in before and he said every year they advise people to change their passwords and if they don't, they close off the account.
I also asked if anyone had hacked my account or my paypay account and he checked on his screen to say my IP address was the only one to access it, so nobody else had been able to log in.
Thanks again for all your help
