A question about : Crown Currency: Customer FAQs

I have just received an email from the CCE Administrators attaching documents, one of these is FAQs and included in this it states that customers have not paid by debit or credit cards. I used my Visa Dr card for my Ј700 Euro order. Acc to What consumer website it states that using a Visa dr card offers protection for shoppers and that you can claim back if the goods you buy are damaged or product/services are not delivered. Will this still stand for the Euro order via CCE?

Best answers:

  • Are you sure you did that? CCE only took payment by bank transfer or cheque. If you did pay by a VISA debit card you can apply for a VISA cashback via your bank.
  • Do you mean you went into the bank and used your card over the counter?
  • I can only think the OP means he obtained the Ј700 from a bank with his Debit card in order to pay CCE.
  • It was my impression the OP went into a branch of Barclaysand piad via their debit card at the counter. If this happened, then they may be able to do a charge back. It was my understanding this wasn't allowed but if a branch of Barclays did, then it would possibly be a chargeback situation.
If so, I would go into your bank/debit card provider and ask for an appt. You may be one of the only lucky ones. If they say no, I would write to cusotmers serivces and go as far as an ombudsman.
I have also heard of some paying after Barclays froze the CCE acctl. They may also have recourse.
  • I paid CCE by debit card over the telephone on 18th august for money that was due to be delivered today. It obviously hasn't appeared! But all the talk of only bank transfers, cash or cheque can't be right - I definately paid this way. I am calling my bank in the morning to see if I am covered by VISA in any way. I'll post again when I have an answer!
  • My husband and I have lost our life savings of Ј20,000 that CCE took from us last WEDNESDAY MORNING ! I transferred the money via internet banking. It was a final deposit on a property we are buying abroad. We can no longer complete the sale of the property so that has a massive knock on effect in that we lose every other deposit we paid into our property too now. We are devastated! I read about an action group we can join to sue the directors - if anyone has information PLEASE can you contact me. Thank you.
