A question about : Cross-stitch cafe 2010

Have you got some UFO's still to finish??

Setting yourself deadlines for stitching cards and pressies?

Half way thro a huge project and needing motivation to finish?

Then grap a cuppa tea and come and have a moan, come a borrow ideas, or just look lovingly at everyone else's projects.

Don't forget to set yourself up a photo album account somewhere to share all your lovely work.

Hope to see some 2009 UFO'ers + some new faces.

  • count me in... I started a cross stitch wedding ring cushion over 11 years ago for my sisters wedding to her now ex-hubby! Not sure if it is good or bad luck, but I have been thinking about completing this (and others) for my own wedding in June!
  • I'm just settling down to watch Corrie and do some work on a Christmas stocking that I started about a month ago and was trying to get it finished for my niece for Christmas this year.
I am planning to stitch stockings for most of my family this year, this way I get to buy stitchy stuff and save money on presents...lol
  • Had planned to have 2 weeks of solid stitching but alcohol has sadly got in the way today. Travelling to Norfolk tomorrow (10.5 hour journey - if the roads are ok) so no stitching tomorrow either. Maybe the next day.
  • I have a UFO! My nanna and I bought a 'Calendar Bears' cross stitch about 10 years ago; she finished hers within months and it hung proudly by the front door until she died in September... so now I want to finish mine... sat working on it while watching Bad Santa, there's 12 bears to do, I have completed 2 and have 2 half done!
  • I have to join in this year..I've been doing the Mighty Samurai Warrior since May 09 and struggling.
But I got 3 new charts for xmas and I want to start them now!!!

I found my camera this morning so waiting for it too charge then will take a pic of current ufo! Off to do stitching until then
  • ohh littlestar that sounds lovely - can't wait to see a piccie.
pm2326 they are fantastic - you have farr more patience then me.
I'll get my 3 UFO's up soon. I WILL finish them before starting anything else......famous last words.
  • Oooh please can I join you. I used to do loads before I had my dd almost 5 years ago and have hardly done any since. She is now at school and I only work 16 hours a week so in theory should have plenty of available stitching time!
I started a picture of lions that my mum purchased for me to do as a gift from us both for my dad-it was possibly for his 60th birthday. He is 70 on 25th march 2010 and it would be great if I could have it done for then-only 10 years late!!!
BTW I'm a single mum of 41 who is a nurse.
Hope to get to know you all.
  • PM2326 my sister would love that first one!
  • Hi guys, welcome to all the new people, i look forward to the UFO pics This is my progress so far on the African Lions clicky i will update properly tomorrow, too dark now to take a photo.
  • nmm thats the same one I'm supposed to be doing for my dad!!!
  • It is not 2010 though is it
  • I will be stitching again in 2010, hardly done any this year for one reason or another and I've really missed it so will be going back to it. I hope to start in January so will be able to make things for birthdays, mother's day and Xmas. I've got a pile of charts in my to-stitch pile to get me started .
Looking forward to seeing what you all make
  • Hya, I have been lurking for the past few months and admiring all of your wonderful pieces of work.
I had planned to do some cross-stitch for Christmas - cards and pressies, but wasn't really able to get started. I got sidetracked into knitting instead, which was easy and much more comfortable to do at night while watching TV.
I have been ill for most of the past year only became well enough to start to knitting in October, I found sewing was painful and difficult then. I am much improved now and with my new glasses, I can see much better too!
I have loads of cross stitch books and plan on trawling through them soon to plan presents that I can start in January. I managed to get lots of wool with some birthday and Christmas money to knit something for myself. How many of you make lots for everyone else, but end up with none of your handywork for yourself?
I would like to sew a picture for my wonderful DH who's birthday is in March...I am looking for one with Aurora i it, or at least something with an Astronomy theme...any clues as to where I might go?
    Hope someone can help me.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday period everyone, snow or no snow!
  • I don't have any UFO's at the moment but I'm always stitching so can I pop along and join in with ya? I have recently finished Robert Pattinson for my daughter 's xmas present.
  • Ooh, ooh, I found this for my DH's birthday...could take more than 2.5 months to sew though
Off to ponder this for a few days...it will take some time to get all the threads together as well, all 120 of them! I suspect this could be DH's Xmas pressie (hopefully for 2010).
Might have another look around the net. I do love the H&E designs though...DH played Dungeons & Dragons in his youth, so the Astronomer would be perfect! Just not sure if I want to do such a huge project!!
  • Hi, can I join? I only usually complete cross stitch cards as I only have the patience for small projects but my Mum asked me cross stitch a kit for her about two years ago. I still have it and have been putting it off because it's so much larger than I usually do (about A4 size). This group would be a great help to help me complete it for Mother's day.
  • OH's aunty and uncle will be celebrating their ruby wedding anniversary in June and would really like to give them a piece of cross stitching to mark the occasion.
I thought of this https://www.historicalsamplercompany....cat=150&page=1 but was concerned that if one of the couples split up then it would be consigned to a cupboard
I then thought of this https://www.historicalsamplercompany....&cat=20&page=1 but then I saw this https://www.historicalsamplercompany....8&cat=0&page=1 which I like as well.
Can I have your thoughts please? I'm not the fastest stitcher so would really need to get started if I'm to finish by June.
    TIA
btw - what does UFO stand for?
