A question about : Christmas eve today

Love to hear what traditions/plans people do on Christmas Eve, what's yours?

Best answers:

  • Drive round and look at the lights and hopefully the movie "Elf" later.
  • Got up early and made beef stew for slow cooker smells lovely! Christmas Eve dinner ready. Now baking biscuits for Santa. Spider-Man themed cos Santa brought amazing Spider-Man toys last year
  • Just finished wrapping presents still need to clean and tidy the flat, beautify myself haha then we're having party food for dinner. Think we'll go to the pub later. If I have time I'll do some veg prep. Might put the turkey in actually.
  • I'm just about to go and make some bread.
  • We've been up since 7 and sorted out much of the house (only moved in on the 12th.) I've made ginger biscuits and about to make mince pies. We've cleaned, tidied, wrapped and swept floors. OH's mum and her partner are due to arrive any time and later we're going to the Christingle at my church. OH is currently snoring on the sofa! I'm sure that's supposed to happen after lunch tomorrow!
    MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!
  • Just finishing wrapping the last of the xmas presents. BF out on his annual pub crawl with friends.
My sister and neice are coming up later on as her husband is working until 10pm tonight so we tend to spend xmas eve together to save being alone!
  • Have been working this morning, both hubby and I finished early though, he is off visiting his folks while I keep our doggies company as we are off out for tea with my Mum and Stepdad for an early tea because of the little ones! Then drop some cards off come home and drink Aldis cheap baileys watching the grinch! Elf tomorrow and so excited!!
    Merry christmas all!
    Jodles
  • My family tradition is to have our main Christmas meal/celebrations on the 24th. We had a leisurely morning then went for a nice walk this afternoon. I'm having a bit of a rest now before getting into gear to do the meal...I've prepared a lot in advance so it's mostly heating stuff up and final bits to do. We'll probably sit down to supper around 7 then the rest of the evening will be eating, drinking and probably playing some games.
My partner's family celebrates on Christmas Day so we'll wait to exchange gifts in the morning then have their traditional Christmas dinner. By 3pm tomorrow I'll be sick of the sight of food and my liver may have packed up!
  • Double post oops! Grinch is on while I clean! Turkey on the oven.
  • This evening. Church and then home for a cold meat platter and pop the cork on the port
  • Spent much of today moving furniture in readiness for painting the room tomorrow. Hoping to get the whole room done with 2 coats.
  • Up early collect meat and last minute supermarket bits, cooked a ham prepared the meat for the oven(s) made my sage and onion stuffing ready to pop in the oven, assembled pigs in blankets, my home office now looks like a prep room of a restaurant.
  • My last minute preparations went out of the window this morning - I stood on a screw when I was bringing in the bins! So off to A&E I went, followed by visiting my daughter in hospital and granddaughter in Special Care. Great news tonight though, my grandchild is now on the ward with her mum, and when we visit tomorrow, I can have my first cuddle! That really makes up for having a very sore foot.
  • Congratulations nanny x
  • My xmas eve was cinema this morning with DD, chippy for dinner, wrap last presents, Asda for last bits and some bargains, back to cinema DD again to see Paddington, home, Pizza. tv, dd in bed now, chill for me then make pigs in blankets, stuffing, and trifle .... then bed.
Normally only cinema once on Xmas Eve and prep early evening.... xx
