A question about : Cheltenham festival

Yesterday, I booked a hotel for Cheltenham Festival week through Travel Republic. The cost was Ј270.00 for two nights which seemed very reasonable. At around 6pm on Friday evening I received a call from the proprietor of the hotel telling me there had been a mistake on T'R's website and the cost should have been Ј400 per night. I immediately spoke with TR who told me they would get on to their provider and come back to me ASAP. After several phone calls today I have just been told (4.30pm) that their provider is happy to cancel the booking free of charge which as far as I am concerned is not good enough. I bought and paid for a room, the fact they had wrongly advertised is not my fault and I feel they should compensate by paying the difference or providing alternative accommodation equi distance from the racecourse and of the same standard as my booking. Please could someone tell me how I stand on this?

Best answers:

  • The can refuse to server anyone and cancel any booking as long as you are left in the same position as you were before making the booking. As they are refunding you, then this is all they need to do.
  • You made an offer but the hotel refused it, no acceptance has taken place.
  • I did not make an offer ... I paid for a room that was advertised at Ј270.00 for 2 nights. I have a confirmation and booking receipt ...... All I am asking is whether I have any rights to argue this case.
  • you dont really, as you cannot force the hotel to let you stay the night...
