A question about : Change travel insurance?
Booked to go to Turkey next month and booked Swift cover insurance, is it worth buying extra with insurance with a company which pays out against cancellation for ash cloud? Departing 10th June

- YES! We were stranded and claimed back over Ј2k for the delays. It was so high mostly due to a generous BA allowance for hotel accommodation, but even without this, the costs of hotels, food etc can get so high. You also have no idea if you do get stuck, how long you could be there......
I'd pay a bit extra for peace of mind. We also needed to claim things like medication as DH ran out after a few days - it was Ј200 in the USA.
IMHO of course - The problem with arranging travel insurance now is that insurance companies are treating the volcanic ash as a "known event". Even those companies who are providing cover are only doing so where the insurance was purchased prior to April 15th. It seems highly unsatisfactory, and the insurance companies are doing themselves no favours, really.
However, the Swiftcover website seems to suggest that their insurance would cover you, assuming you took it out a while ago.
