A question about : Cellar flooded with sewerage

Please help

We have been told by our local council and anglia water that we can take our claim no further as nobody is willing to accept resposibillty for our flooded cellar which ruined all my tools approx Ј4,000 (not covered on a home insurance policy)

Our cellar was flloded with sewerage from a blocked pipe on our avenue, probably by one of the main trees which is maintained by the council.

can we take our claim any further as we are being told by the 2 companies that we would have no chance in a claim which makes my blood boil as it is so unfair.

anybody have any ideas or simillar situations.

thanks in advance

chris

Best answers:

  • Have you considered contacting a solicitor?
  • Have you got anything from the council and/or Anglia Water?
We had a sewage issue in our garden about 18 months ago (not our fault) which was disgusting and ruined quite a few well established plants and killed off a whole host of newly planted plants and trees). Although by no means on the same scale of the problem you've had, the only thing we managed to get was Ј80 off our next water bill. That was it.
I would suggest getting in touch with a solicitor in your case though as its quite a big deal to lose that amount of tools - definitely worth spending a little money to see a solicitor about this. Hopefully someone of that career-path will reply to your thread.
