A question about : Can we do it, views sought

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We want to sell and move to Spain, this is a very considered decision and one we have been researching for almost a year;

I wondered if anybody had any thoughts about our finances which I had not thought of and answers to one or two questions:

We are 42 and 48 respectively.

I can get my pension when I am 50 my fund is about 70k...what am I likely to draw monthly from such a fund??
My hubby can get his when he is 65, this would pay out about 13k lump and then 3k per year.

We have 175k to take with us.
We have an apartment there which has 120k equity in it now, but we hope to sit on this for another few years.

I get incapacity benefit here, can I still get this in Spain ?? If so this provides about 450 euro per month.

We are going to use 85k of our savings to buy outright and then live off the remainder for the next 8 years. Aproximately 12-15 per annum, remember though no mortgage. Equally, we will both do occassional work for treats and things but we have no definate job to go to. This will be good as the first year will be spent rennovating our new home.

After me being 50 we get my pension? Sell our apartment and then a few years later get hubbys pension.

CAN WE DO IT

Questions:
Do you get incapacity benefit abroad?
Can I still get my pension at 50? It is with the Norwich union?

Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, issues we have not thought of are welcome
Cheers.......... here's dreaming.

  • Hi lesandflynny
You've asked a fair number of questions there but I think over all that your best will get best response on the Pensions, Annuities and Retirement board and so I've moved the post across for you.
    Good luck

  • A pension can be taken from age 50, but this is going up to age 55 from 2010, so depending on which person is which, this could be a no-no.
