A question about : Buyer saying items not received

Good evening everyone,

Advice please. I've been contacted today from a buyer who claims items not received title=EEK! They purchased the items on 21st Jan & they were posted on 22nd Jan. Total value under Ј10
This is the first time I have ever had items 'go missing' in the post title=Frown

Best answers:

  • You don't have proof of delivery, so buyer wins.
You refund the buyer and claim from your delivery agent.
  • When we have a customer claim INR we ask them to confirm their address, if correct we advise them to open a case and we'll check with their local Royal Mail depot (if the parcel was too large for a letter box you should do this if you can) and replace if no joy.
If you just refund them you'll end up with a defect anyway so asking them to open a case won't make any difference to the number of defects (you can only get 1 per transaction).
To open a case the buyer selects "I didn't get it" from the drop down menu in teir purchase history and they then follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Hi, thank you for advice on next steps. I checked with them & their address is correct. They've checked with their neighbours & the post office but no package. All I have is a proof of posting.
They will open a case in the next couple of days if the package is a no show.
  • The defect system is absolute !!!!
  • Soon as a defect is created. There is no point in providing any customer service
Sometimes you know a buyer is going to create a defect at some point, again if so there is no point providing any customer service.
On some occasions it is beneficial in the long run to get a buyer to create a defect. eg. if buyers feeback says they have not received every second item etc or if they excessively moan about items.(mind you that's assuming your feedback can take the hit)
keep the good CS for the good buyers. Cause the bad buyer will drag you down lol
  • I recently had a similar issue to this.
Buyer bought the item on eBay and I sent it the next day and got proof of postage. About a month later, buyer contacts me and says they haven't received the item. So I check the transaction details on eBay and note that the buyer has already left me positive feedback about the item soon after I posted it.
Buyer now says that they left feedback in error. So I said fine, take it to eBay to decide because to me it looks like you've received the item and are now trying one on to get your money back.
Never did hear anything back from eBay .........................
  • You only have to google "how to get free stuff on e-bay"
It's all there, even a back room forum of tips and tricks to abuse sellers and fill your boots.
Leave Neutral feedback "claimed Items were not delivered -watch this buyer !"
At least it limits the thieving they can do to others.
