A question about : Buongiorno Mu charges (t mobile)

On checking my unbilled charges today, I noticed a 0.85p charge every Friday since march from Buongiorno Mu - searching them onine they look to be a music / app company, I can not remember downloading or signing up to any apps, has anyone come across the same thing or know how to cancel this - thanks

  • Hi
I know your message was a few weeks ago now but today I discovered by chance that my husband had 'outside of plan' charges of Ј0.82 per week to "Buongiorno iF" since mid June. After much digging this company appear to use a loophole to subscribe random telephone numbers to their sevices (in our case an iFortune app) without permission, for which we have never even heard of never mind subscribed to.
To cut a long story short this is what I emailed to ukmobivillage@buongiorno.com
    Dear Sir or Madam,
I found out today that my t-mobile account (***********) has been charged for a weekly subscription to your company for a service that I have never signed up for or authorised. I have never heard of your website and/or apps and have never agreed to your services. Please stop this service immediately. I request an immediate and full refund of all charges applied to date.
I also plan to take this complaint further and would like to know the name of UK Government regulatory agency which governs your conduct. I will also contact Trading Standards as there are many complaints from other Orange and t-mobile users. Please supply this information and confirm a refund without delay.
I look forward to hearing from you

I am really annoyed that they have the cheek to do this and I wonder how many other people it affects without them even realises (we certainly didn't!). Their lack of fight tells me that they know they're in the wrong. I just hope the refund comes through like they say and will keep a closer eye on our mobile phone bills in future!

  • Thank you Shellyk6666
I have also copied your email and sent it off tonight after discovering that they have been hitting me with a weekly charge since June!
How can they get away with this?
    Thanks again, Jx
  • Hi all,
I too have just noticed a hidden charge on my EE bill since March. Ee report I must have signed up to a 3rd party app and it's not their responsibility. They did give me the name Buongiorno and a tel number.
Putting "Buongiorno scam" into google brings up a very interesting worldwide scam that is happening to lots of people. In fact Buongiorno themselves state they have over 2 billion reg users!!!
More research into companies and owners produces something shocking. Buongiorno and EE (t-mobile) are owned by the same parent company, including most of the other large phone companies around the world!!!!!!! They know exactly what they are doing and are practically robbing from their customers and deny any knowledge and use different laws to clear themselves.
I have now gone to Watchdog, Bbc news and office of fair trading with this news.
  • Buongiorno was sold this year to deutsch Telekom under ntt docomo German umbrella. Simple searches online and you can find this information out
  • On August 2012, after the settlement of the public tender offer, Buongiorno became part of DOCOMO Deutschland GmbH, wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT DOCOMO, a global leader in mobile telecommunications technologies and services.
    Copied from Buongiorno.com
On April 1, 2010, after the T-Home and T-Mobile German operations merged to form Telekom Deutschland GmbH, a wholly owned DT subsidiary; the T-Mobile brand was discontinued in Germany and replaced with the Telekom brand.[3]

  • I have just discovered that I am in the same boat, but in my case with Orange. I too have copied the letter and sent it off and already had a response that they will repay the Ј56! they have robbed. I am livid about this. When I spoke to Orange it was obvious they knew what it was and just kept giving me the slopy shoulder when I suggested that I had to trust them with the security of my account if they wished to retain my business. The operator couldn't wait to get rid of me. I have sent a strongly worded letter of complaint to Orange who, without prejudice, seem to me to be complicit in this scam. I will be actively looking for companies not associated with Orange, EE or Bon"rob dog"Journio when I come to renew my mobile contracts if I don't get some satisfaction from Orange. LIVID
I will post on here if I actually get the promised refund.

I cant believe they get away with this. Im fuming. Something needs to be done.
  • Had exactly the same thing happen on my daughters phone, with no knowledge of signing up for anything.
It's definitely a scam, no point getting on to T-Mobile about it as their customer service is appalling.
I've sent the e-mail, just waiting on an answer, it would be nice to know how they are finding the numbers to bill, is it random or some cleverly disguised app?

  • Same scam which in my case has continued since 2012 resulting in the theft of little under Ј200 via my account.
I'm just as intrigued with regards the paypal refund. Maybe it just gets Buongiorno a bucket load of air miles, or some other benefit .I'd also love to know which corporation is paying the sum total of all this reclaimed hush money and more importantly why, in my case orange is not legally obliged to return my cash which has been fraudulently taken by using loop holes in their system based on information readily available on the internet.
Absolutely disgusting all round to put it mildly.
  • Hi all,
I was in the same boat as all of the above to the tune of just over Ј15..
I copied the email and sent it off (huge thanks to shellyk6666 for that ) and got a reply back with the same story.. refund via paypal..
big question is.. lots of people said they would post back when they got the refund.. but no one has.. and some of the posts are now quite old.. are you still waiting .. or has this actually happened ?
look forward to hearing from someone who has actually been reimbursed.
    Jase
  • Well I an confirm I actually had an email today detailing how to receive my refund..
i can now see it in my paypal account and hopefully that's where it will stay..
if it gets revoked I shall post accordingly.
but so far so good :-)
  • Hi all, was also hoping if anyone other than the person who asked the question in the first place has got their refund yet?? You guys with your Ј7 incurred charges saying how outrageous it is, I am waiting on a refund from these scum bags for over Ј120, I would really appreciate it if someone could kindly get back to me.
    Thanks all.
  • Thank you for the email template. I have sent it, along with a break down of each charge I have been receiving since December 2013 to the sum total of around Ј65!
Chasing this refund now so i'll update to let others know how it goes.
It is sickening that companies can get away with this... I feel disgusted that i've been paying these charges for almost a year now and it was only by chance I realised, so it could have gone on much longer.
I'm not sure about any one else but i'm not one to check the detailed break down of my phone bill regularly - that's definitely changed now!!
  • Hi Shellyk6666,
I sent off your template letter on the 14/09/2014 and I received my refund in PayPal a week later which I transferred to my Bank account successfully.
Shellyk6666 Thank you very much for your advice tip. To everyone else who has asked the question 'do you get back a refund?' YES YOU DO...I DID.
  • Hi all, a special thanks to shellyk6666. I noticed today that my fathers account has been charged 0.825 plus vat for a good few months. Copied your letter and sent it through to them earlier this afternoon. Got a reply that they will refund me 45.54 through paypal within 10 working days. Once the funds are cleared I'll post back to confirm. Thanks once again
  • I discovered today that BG - Buongiorno- have been charging my EE account Ј1.25 weekly. As I had not signed up for this, I understand it to be theft. I've sent the e-mail requesting refund of the payments they have taken.
This is a scam that needs to be publicised and reported and I will do as much as I can to do both. It is particularly worrying that the EE 'advisor' I spoke to about the payments was unhelpful and aggressive ... and that there seems to be some suggestion that EE & Buongiorno are part of the same company.
  • Clearly this scam is still going on... :-(
I just checked my latest bill and see that I have been charged Ј1.25 every week since December 1st.
As others have done, I've sent off the standard letter and hoping (expecting!) to get a full refund.
