A question about : British Charity providing business microloans?
Maybe my google skills aren't very good, but I understand there is a british charity that provides business microloans to african/indian people requiring finance to develop their own businesses. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Best answers:
- Is this it -
https://www.lendwithcare.org/?gclid=C...FabLtAod_CkAZA - Many of the major charities , including OXFAM, provide microloans or similar support as part of their project work.
They will often allow you to ring fence a donation through their "virtual gift" products like OXFAM's "unwrapped" gifts better known for their "Buy a Goat" product but now charities offer a wide range of projects to buy into. - I just came across another UK-based microloan site, via a MSE post from 2009 I found through Google search.
The site's called Deki - https://www.deki.org.uk/ - Oikicredit provide micro loans. It is based in the Netherlands but has an UK office. You also get a dividend on the money you invest, which you can take as income or reinvest.
- Here's a link to a list of micro lending / ethical lending sites. It contains just under 25 initiatives, all similar to the ones mentioned in the above thread:
https://helpfromhome.org/category/act...lending/page/2 - Have a look at Opportunity International. I have donated to them for several years. They provide loans and banking/savings in the countries you asked about.
