A question about : Best value tube or bus travel for a weekend in London
My wife and I are in London next weekend (Fri 30th Jan/Sun 1st Feb)
Stopping near to Euston, we will want to take the tube or bus around zone's 1 & 2, mainly off peak. What is the best way to do it?
I also have a Senior Railcard (My wife does not)
Thank you.
Best answers:
- M'star - there is no off-peak distinction on weekends. If you have a non-London bus pass, you will be able to use it on buses only (no underground) - sfaik, your railcard will not help you at all except on overground services. London buses don't take cash, and tickets for buses and tubes need to be bought before boarding. Your best bet is a pre-paid Oystercard or a contactless debit/credit card - look at the TransportForLondon website - there is a daily cap on total travel costs, but I believe that there is some kind of 'deposit' on an Oystercard, so I'm not sure what happens if you only use it once or twice during the weekend. Enjoy your weekend.
- Thank you both, I will go with the contact debit card option, it seems an easier option.
