A question about : Best option for paying for online course?

Hi,

I'm new to credit cards, loans etc. I'm looking to pay for an online training course that costs Ј2500 and just wanting a bit of advice on what would be the best way to pay for something like this?
Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Infowarrior.

Best answers:

  • If it is with a reputable institution, they may have a financing option available to you on a mnnthly payment basis.
Look at the options of a credit card, personal loan, and in-house financing. Also, make sure you are with an accredited teaching facility who have reasonable cancellation terms if your circumstances change. There are a ot of online course providers who aren't quite what they seem to be once your money is in their pockets.
  • And look up the numerous threads on this forum from people who have started out on these courses, left them for one reason or another, and find themselves having to pay off the course fees over many years.
  • Best way is to pay for it out of your savings.
  • I'm yet to read any positive feedback from these Ј2,500 online courses.
Just be clear that the money you borrow is paid toward to whole course up front. If you stop/realise it is worthless or for any other reason do not complete it, you still have to repay the Ј2,500 pounds (plus interest).
  • What is the course? If it is an OU course then you are safe in the quality of the course and they have financing options on top of the ability to pay by CC,loan, other cards.
If not then ask the company what they accept and if they have finance offers, and take it from there.
You could try a 0% purchases card and get 0% for a set period of time and pay it that way without incurring much/if any interest dependent upon paying it by the end of the deal. ,Also you could try to obtain a 0% money transfer card and pay it that way which would, as long as you pay it off by the end of the deal, a few % in fees.
  • Train to be a psychologist in 8 weeks, be a gas plumber in 12 weeks........ mmmm would you want to give Ј2500 for an online course???
Most companies wont accept an online qualification from an unknown company/provider. Contact your local college and get your course done there.
  • It is with a very reputable firm. There is no "savings" to use so that's not an option.
  • Why the reluctance to tell us what course and who with?
There are dozens of this type of rip off courses. You will read lots of "made up" positives and promises of guranteed jobs on completion but it's all waffle.
This type of course comes complete with finance, normally through blackhorse and has been reported on here many many times.
Obtaining finance isn't a problem, achieving success and repaying the debt is the real issue.
We are on your side on this, we don't want to see you make a mistake.
