A question about : Best option for parcel to Australia?

I need to send an item to Australia, just checked Parcelforce prices and had the shock of my life. The package will weigh somewhere around 5kg-8kg (got to check this when I get back).

Parcelforce want Ј85 for this!!! I found one place that is offering Ј68 postage, but that still seems a LOT. I am looking for Ј40-Ј50 max .. any suggestions??

Best answers:

  • Try www.parcel2go.com
If you do send a lot of parcels, use these people and adverise them on your site, and you will recieve 10% discount on all ur deliveries though them.
  • Always worth getting a quote from Pharos International.
    https://www.pharos-international.co.uk/cquote.php
  • Check out Transglobal
    https://www.transglobalexpress.co.uk/
I entered details for a 6kg package going to Sydney (guessed at your parcel dimensions etc) and it came back with a quote from DHL for Ј52. They even pick it up from your home for free.
I sent a package to America this way yesterday, and when the DHL lady came to pick it up she said it's actually cheaper to do it via transglobals website than it is to go to DHL directly... so its a good site to be aware of!
  • I'd already looked at Parcel2go .. they wanted Ј110, so that's definitely a ParcelNOT2go!
Thanks for the other tips, will definitely investigate them
    Cheers!
  • Getting lower - Pharos
    https://www.pharos-international.co.uk/
quote 58.67 pounds for 8kg. You need to check that length x width x height in cm divided by 6000 does not come out bigger than 8. If the volumetric 'weight' is bigger than the actual weight they will charge at the higher figure. That price does not include insurance - Pharos charge 1.5% I think.
  • One of the most competitive parcel services available!
10 kgs to Australia Ј57.00 and people you can actually talk to!
    Peter is Great!

  • 2 years to late, but I would second their good service and rates.
Any chance you could PM your discount code Peter?
  • They are also now doing parcels for I think Ј35 to australia
    so thats good
  • Hi Peter, transglobal are currently cheaper than you for Australia and the States. However you'll be pleased to know you are both recommended in the courier thread.
  • Just sorted a Christmas 3Kg parcel to Oz on 3 day delivery with Transglobal including them picking it up for Ј36! The advice would appear to be never go direct to a courier but use an intermediary who gets BIG discounts because of the volumes they ship
  • You're pricing structure can't compete with Direct Parcel Distribution, who are currently far cheaper and offer a flat rate up to 25kg.
  • I have just used Transglobal Express as recommended on this site for a 4kg parcel from UK (home collection) to Australia. It cost Ј42 (Ј30 less than parcelforce) and arrived in two and a half days. Transglobal were very helpful to deal with and I am very impressed with the service - would definitely recommend.
  • Seems to be a lot of tinned meat here
  • I need to send some, (80), individually wrapped, pre-packed, walkers double Shortbread Fingers to Sydney, Oz. for a wedding. Can anyone tell me if these are O.K. for export to Oz, and the best transport for the package of 4kg about 30 x 30 x 10 cm. Happy New year.
  • Mmmmm, need to check with Walkers for detail, the packs are marked :-
Ingredients : wheat flour, butter(31%), sugar, salt. Not suitable for nut allergy sufferers. Contains milk, wheat Gluten. I guess this may not look good.
  • I want to send Nescafe Dolce Gusto Latte coffee pods to Australia for my family. Will this go through the customs?
