A question about : Best Moisturiser ???

Looking for my recommendation for a good moisturiser. I am 35 the fine lines are starting to appear and my skin looks a bit deflated these days, definitely not as plump as it used to be. My skin can be a bit dry but usually I would just describe it as normal. Maybe I am looking at these Bo Toxed Celebs too much.title=EEK!

Anyway Im open to trying new moisturisers and seeing what results that they have - I'd be interested in recommendations from all price ranges, at this stage in life I don't mind spending more on my skin care now if its going to help me later on down the track.

At the minute I'm using Dr Organic Manuka Honey Treatment Cream, jury is still out on this as its only been a few weeks.

Help folks !!

  • I seem to recall hearing that it's not so much about the cream that you use, but how much of it you use, so you might as well use a cheaper one, but then slap it on in droves.
That said, I really like the Roc range, but they are becoming more and more difficult to find for some reason. I've recently started using Soap and Glory, which seems nice.
  • I actually love the Cien moisturisers from Lidl! They're only Ј1.99 as well
  • The Soap and Glory facial wipes are really good, I had them once but thought they were a bit expensive for everyday use.
  • The best thing you can do is use a high SPF on top of your moisturizer 30 at the very least.
Facial oils under your moisturizer can help plump a bit.
  • I use Aldi Q10 face creams. The night one (in a pot) is about Ј2, the day one (in a tube and SPF15) is about Ј1.50. I have the serum too which I use sometimes, about Ј3.50. I use simple soap and water for cleansing. My skin is just as wrinkle free as anyone else's my age (42) and certainly no different to friends who use products that are much, much more expensive.
I think the secret is to look after your skin from an early age by cleansing and moisturising, stay out of sun, always have a decent SPF in your day cream and no smoking or alcohol. And being generous with your moisturiser, which you can be at Aldi prices. And remembering your neck as well as your face.

  • Cetaphil is amazing, non greasy and hydrating.
  • I have tried many moisturisers including estee lauder, clinique, elemis marine cream, Olay and lots of others and have come to the conclusion that there isn't that much difference between the expensive and cheap ones.I think its not just moisturiser but your whole skincare routine that helps with aeging skin and fine lines.
I have changed my routine slightly over the past three years and my skin has never been better. I am also a great advocate of facial massage, I did a massage / aromatherapy course and the tutor had amazing skin and looked much younger than she was, she put it down to always taking a few minutes to gently massage in moisturiser and cleanser not just slap it on and off.
My routine is cleanse with Rice bran oil, wash off with a flannel, in the evening I use advocado oil as a moisturiser which I gently masage in for a couple of minutes then a very tiny amount of grapeseed oil gently massaged around eye area, in the morning I use Rice bran oil again to cleanse then use Aldi Q10 in the glass pot with blue lid with a couple of drops of Rosehip oil mixed in. May not work for everyone as we all have different skin types.
  • at the moment i am using Good Things Mattifier Moisturiser which stops me going shiny and I haven't had many spots while using this, either. they have a few different ranges for all skin types.
i am also using Wilkos own brand toner and primer. they're cheap and surprisingly good!
  • I saw a dermatologist and he recommended higher than fifteen for face. It happened to be the one in my moisturiser that I wore year round. In summer I always wear factor 30 but am passing on that he said always wear higher than the 15, year round. I have Dermalogica F50 which I use on face now.
There are some really good you tube videos on facial massage. Can't remember the name now. Just 10 mins or so in the evenings and you really notice a difference.
  • I don't think you can isolate moisturiser alone- if your face isn't clear in the first place then your going to struggle to find one that wont leave your skin looking dull, feeling like it has a film over it or worse, that results in blocked pore spots.
I'd recommend using a good non drying facial wash before you put anything on your skin and if you can exfoliate once a week that will help even more.
If your new to facial moisturisers and are just looking for a quick to use cream maybe try a facial oil? They aren't too heavy (although some can give you a shiny look if you apply too much or have a too heavy cleanser which makes your skin overly dry). There are many brands out there though.
  • I stay away from cheap stuff, I don't find the user experience pleases me.
But I do think there is very little difference between mid range (no7, body shop, olay regenerist) & the high end stuff.
I recently bought elemis pro collegen marine cream, it's ok....
I really like the body shop drops of youth range, the vit e range & vit c range.
I often fall back to olay regenerist or perform & protect.
I think Elizabeth Arden 8 hour skin cream & lip balms are 2 essentials to keep in the bag.
I quite like declour, & I do like elemis cleaners too.
Am I missing any cult products?
  • I've tried a wide range of different products, from lots of different brands, I really love the elemental herbology range, it's probably not very money saving, though it lasts for months.
I've also recently tried a caudelie moisturiser, which is quite good, but my preference is still the first one.
  • I use Environ products morning and night, which are amazing but not so cheap - about the same as Clinique/Clarins. However, if I need to reapply during the day, after gym or makeup removal, I use Simple SPF 30 moisturiser and eye balm, which I think are amazing value for money. The SPF 30 cream is pretty much the same as Clinique Superdefence, which I used to love, but about 1/10 of the price.
  • I use olay seven signs of ageing which is rrp of arpund Ј18
Refuse to pay this and only buy when on offer, usually a tenner but recently got from asda for Ј7. Should have stocked up.
Recently been to a spa and the facial lady asked about my routine. Darent tell her I wash with dove but told her I use Olay and she said tp carry on doing whatever I am doing as skin is good for 48 year old.
Im not one to sit in the sun so maybe that helps as well.?
