  • Are the GE Money and Morgan Stanley Plat Cards still good cards to have or do you think I should be considering changing them now?
I've noticed that they aren't on the best list any more or was there another reason they have been removed?
  • The GE Money card is also no longer available to new customers.
  • Rejected by Capital One - Stoozers beware!
  • decision on the screen was that I need to wait for 7 days as final credit checks will be done against my name....
cannot believe, have been recently turned down by Amex, have appealled but hasn't heard from them yet...
I've never missed a payment, i.e., excel. credit history....my prob I guess is my current add: 7 months
  • ah so that's why they have been removed. I'll keep using those then I think their as good as...well not the 4% but that's only for a short time.
  • just cancelled my morgan stanley card, since introduction of Ј20 annual fee and only getting 0.5 % cash back, would have to spend Ј4000 just to cover fee. also cash back can only be reclaimed in multipulls of Ј15.
  • Just saw on the capital one website that they are doing 4% first 3 months then 1% after.
  • It's all very well for these companies to offer these high cashbacks but it depends on your income. I have been a Capital One customer for many years and I currently have a card which gives me 1% cashback and I always repay the full amount every month by direct debit. At present I am living off my savings interest and my wife's pension and as such have only a very small income. I applied for the 4% cashback card and was rejected on the basis that my income was insufficient.
  • I have just been rejected by Capital One for the first time ever, despite no debts and a good salary. I don't understand this...... Could they be rejecting everyone applying for this great offer in the hope selling them a less attractive card????
Has anyone been accepted by Captal One for the 4% cashback card?
  • I was instantly approved on-line. Don't know the credit limit yet. I have a high income and no debts.
  • I got the 7 days, let you know stuff!! Nationwide cash card what a joke don`t know the rate was told it was .25% but it seems lower than that
  • I have to wait 7 days as well. Nationwide cashback credit card gives out low cashback, but benefits more by the fact that you can use it abroad and are not charged 2.75% admin fee like all other credit cards! I use my
Nationwide credit card always when I am abroad and my Morgan Stanley Platinum card in the UK.
  • Just applied for the Capital One 4% card online and was approved straight away.
  • I did not get an instant decision, but after a few weeks I have received my 4% cashback card approval.
If I get a 2nd card (one for my wife) will this effect the chances of getting this card again in four months time? (in my wife's name this time).
I want to make the most of it and try and get 4% cashback for 6 months using two cards.
  • How long does it take to actually receive the card from when you get approval?
    Thanks
  • Classic Credit Card
  • Look out for any Barclaycard cashback offers......as this is the only card (I know of) that pays your cashback monthly, and also it comes directly off your monthly statement
if you do this and still want to take advantage of the 0% on purchases then follow this guide:
    know your credit limit
calculate how much you will put on your card each month (obviously it will be as much as you can, as you would want to recieve maximum cashback, take note cashback is capped at £15.00 per month so do the maths)
then make purchases on the rest of the limit, leaving yourself a £100.00 'buffer' incase you overspend
    still dont undestand? Follow this scenario;
Barclaycard Flexi Rate- Credit limit £4,000
    monthly spend- £1,000
    amount left over- £3,000
put £2,900 on your card as a purchase. Leave it on here. everything else you spend pay this off
at the same time put this £2,900 into a saving account. This way you will be getting interest on the money saved, plus you will still recieve maximum cashback each month!
The other thing to keep in mind is that there is up to a 56 day cycle on cards, so you will infact have more than one months spend on your card at any one time, so take this into account when leaving eneough money left over so you dont exceed your credit limit!
Let me know what you think!!
