A question about : Bathroom leak on a new build

Hi,

Our house is 18 months old. On Saturday, my wife noticed a 50 cm long damp line on the living room ceiling, directly below the bathroom. Upon closer inspection after removing the bath panel, all underneath the bath is damp/wet. The wet has even seeped into our master bedroom which is next door to the bathroom, making the carpet damp.

Tonight, I've pulled the carpet and underlay up in the bedroom. The floor boards are all damp so I'll be leaving the carpet up in a hope that they'll dry out. I've also pulled up the lino in the bathroom and there were small pools of water under there which I've dried up with a towel, but the floor boards all along the side of the bath are wet/damp.

I've rang the builders today (am I allowed to name and shame?) and they're sending a plumber and someone to inspect the damage tomorrow.

Where do I stand with this? Obviously they're going to fix the leak. But, in my mind, I want all new carpet and underlay in the bedroom (I've noticed that my wife and I have been sniffing and sneezing a lot in the past few days, possibly due to mould spores in the air?), and want the skirting boards replacing in the bathroom (the water has seeped up into the wood, causing them to bubble) and the lino replacing. I also want the ceiling repainting in the living room. Am I likely to get this without a fight, seeing as the house is under 2 years old? Or are the builders well within their rights not to cough up and replace the damaged parts?

It makes me fear what else is wrong with the house...
