  • The banks do seem, in general, to handle financial hardship cases well.
  • Well done janets, don't spend it all in one shop.....
  • Hi iv heard about reclaiming bank charges,, but I am unsure if im entitled as hsbc said its an informal overdraft,, also roughly about 2 years ago,, I have had this bank account since 16 once I reached 21 I started getting bank charges each month to be told from hsbc its not an overdraft,, its a lending facility,, I asked well when was this added to my account,, basically never informed about this informal overdraft,, just after some info if I can claim anything,, as I was never aware of the informal overdraft,, until I got charges each month which I had to pay I also asked to take off or stop this informal overdraft,, got told to speak to hsbc about an arrange one for the Ј50 they gave me informally,, but wouldn't do it for same amount for an arranged overdraft,, so I said I need this informal overdraft thing taken off my account,, as I have never had this before and was never informed,, I got told I couldn't be stopped,, unless u go to a basic atm account,, which I refused,, eventually I went to a different branch and they removed this informal overdraft thing,, but im just after information,, of I am eligible
  • Thankyou for your advice. I wasnt ever informed about the informal overdraft. I had the account from the age of 16 and never had the issue of an informal overdraft then. I was never informed about this on my account. Also it wasnt through direct debits. it was through cash withdrawals I roughly new my weekly income. Didnt ever check balance so by my knowledge the money I was withdrawing was my own not the informal overdraft as hsbc called it. What age does this get added to your account as I mentioned earlier I had the account from age of 16. If it is something that changes at a specific age does the bank have to inform you?
