A question about : April 2013 weddings

Couldn't find a thread for us so here it is! Hello all April 2013 brides! We've decided on 6 April, a special date for us (youngest daughter's birthday) so far we've booked church, reception, photographer and I've started my dress hunt. How are you all doing with plans?

• Hi scrumpy78!! Congrats on setting the date, and a great date it is - I'm a 6th April bride too!!!!
  So far we've booked the venue, photographer and bought our wedding rings last night!! Starting the dress hunt tomorrow!
  It's so exciting isn't it! Just seems too long away at the moment!!x
• I'm April 2013 too! it's going to be the 11th and it does seem so far away!!
  We've provisionally booked the venue, just need to put insurance in place then will pay the deposit, eek! Flowers, photography, minister etc will be dealt with by them so we only need to worry about our outfits Once the deposit is down we'll order the save the dates. I want to put together and info leaflet as well so people know where to start when booking tickets etc.
  We're going to have about 25 guests over in Las Vegas and will take everyone for a meal after the ceremony, will need to decide where to do that. Also need to sort out a cake...
  Am going to a wedding show this weekend at a possible venue for the party back here, will have a good nose round

  Booked our venue, photographer, videographer, my car and our stationary. We have picked the Flowers, Bridesmaid dresses and suits for the men but still have to buy them.

• Eeek...we just got engaged and want to get married as quickly as possible, we're considering April 2013 but I'm terrified to read this thread and see what you've all already got booked! Do you think it's even possible for us to do it April 2013 if we start planning now?

  I'm sure you'll be able to do April 2013, or even before, as long as you can find a venue that's available. If you've got your heart set on a particular place though you may have to wait for it!
  So you'd better start ringing round some places hehe!
  We got engaged in August last year and decided to wait until 2013 as we're getting married abroad and wanted to give people a chance to save up.
  In other news I've sorted out insurance so am ready to email the venue with our signed contract and pay the deposit... Eek!
  Edited to say deposit paid, wedding confirmed for the 11th Yay!
• Well the wedding show yesterday at the prospective reception venue was really nice, had some good chats with local suppliers etc.
  The venue itself was lovely, definitely one for the short list! They only do full day weddings on Saturdays though so we'd have to have to do on a Friday, or maybe a bank holiday Sunday? Mum loved it too and has decided we don't need to look at any more venues at all! hehe
  Of course we will though, got another local show next week infact. And the big show at Olympia on Friday The wedding still seems ages away but doing things like this are getting me excited!
  The only down side is I can feel myself getting carried away with 'extras' I am feeling the need to book a photographer, string quartet and master of ceremonies!!! A bit much for a party 2 or 3 weeks after the wedding
  I need to sort out some save the dates for the wedding ceremony and haven't heard back from the supplier that does the ones I really love Guess I'll have to look at other options now...

• I might be 6th April too! Got the venue provisionally booked until our first opportunity to go and meet with them, which isn't until 10th March. Then if everything is ok we'd have to pay the deposit and officially book it. But I'm pleased that we've at least effectively got them saving the date for us!
• Oh and sorry I'm so rude - meant to add it sounds as though other people's plans are coming along swimmingly, yay!
• No worries Daisie! I know what it's like wanting to get all your news out at once! When I got home yesterday evening from the show I practically melted OHs ears off with a wedding overload
  That's fab about them holding your date/venue, will you be able to look round other prospective venues before the 10th so you can make the decision on the day? Or would they hold it a little longer for you?
• TBH there AREN'T many other prospective venues. There are really two possibilities and the other one is being very slow getting back to me about anything but is even more popular than the one I like so I suspect will all be booked up too. I'm maybe strange in that as long as it's nice enough, has a dance floor and is not a church hall/airport hotel (lots of those round here) and CAN DO THE DATE that's fine by me I'm more worried about being able to get married as soon as we can than fussing over tiny details of where it's held...I mean it's a fancy country house hotel that is virtually fully booked for weddings every Saturday for the next two years so it should be plenty good enough for us
• Oh meant to add...I also like this one as it lets you use your own caterers if you want to and we would really love our favourite restaurant to cater for our wedding, so it's good news on that front.
• Well another very weddingy weekend done and dusted.
  Went to the National Wedding Show at Olympia on Friday. It was fab, a complete wedding overload My mum even had a good time, in fact I think she had more fun than me!
  Saw so many things, took away lots of ideas AND I ordered my wedding shoes!! I'd seen them a while ago (on this site infact) and once I saw them in real life I knew they were the ones. SO exciting, feels like I've made progress lol
  Got a fancy cake topper too from Mum, we're going to use it in Vegas and back here as for the reception.
  We then went to another local show here on Sunday, the venue wasn't that great but met more suppliers to add to the growing list. A friend I ran into on Saturday mentioned a barn nearby that we could hire, so that's even more places to chose from! We'd need to sort caterers/dance floor or decorations/a bar etc, it would be so convenient location wise I don't think I'd mind. The next thing is to pick a date for the reception then we can approach various places and get quotes.
  I want to order our save the dates today, I'm just waiting to hear back from the lady re lead times etc.
• Congrats! I'm hoping to go to a big show at manchester in a couple of weeks. I got my dress this weekend. A Mark Lesley one off eBay for Ј122!! So absolutely thrilled with it. It's a size too small buy we won't worry about that just yet lol!

  One dress size isn't so bad, we've still got over a year to go. I'm sure you can do it!
  I want to lose some more weight before I start trying on dresses but I'm not sure how much longer I'll hold out! I didn't fancy trying any on at the show though, not in front of all those people!!
• We went to The Westcountry wedding show yesterday. We managed to book our chair covers and we got a fantastic price as she has only just started her buisness! I have an appointment at a Bridal shop next weekend with my Mum, saw a dress in their brochure that I love.

  Well we have the church booked for 6th April 2013...just hoping when we go to see the potential venue on 10th March, it will all be fine and we can get that booked and then our date will be definitely confirmed! yay!
  When are you all sending out Save The Dates?
  Ooh, in other exciting news, my possible engagement ring has come into the shop. Got engaged two weeks ago today and still no ring! We went looking on Saturday and found one I really love except that OH thought the diamond wasn't big enough (I think I was the envy of every woman in the shop lol) so they had to order in the same ring with a slightly bigger diamond. But now OH is away on business until early next week, so even if I go in and look at it and decide yes it is perfect, I can't HAVE it until he's back to pay for it! grrr People keep asking to see the ring and I don't feel properly engaged without one!
• We are paying Ј2.80 for a chair cover and a sash. We looked at a number of other places and the prices were between Ј3.50 and Ј4.50 per chair. I wasn't going to bother having chair covers at those prices but after finding someone so cheap we couldn't say no.

  My beautiful shoes arrived last week, love them!
  I've also ordered the save the dates and info flyers. Will send them when they arrive so it's about a year before. Maybe a bit early but as we're getting married abroad we want everyone to have as much notice as possible!
  Next thing to sort is the venue for the do back in the UK, looking at the first May bank holiday Sunday if places will do a late close for us.
