A question about : Anyone used allfordress.co.uk???

Have seen a copy of the Maggie Sottero wedding dress I want on this site. Has anyone ever used or even heard of this site before?

• Allfordress is based less than a mile from where I live, so when I started to look for dresses I decided to make an appointment to see them. Unfortunately I had been double booked and when I got there they could not see me - I'm sure this happens anywhere you need to make an appointment now and again, but I was annoyed at the inconvenience so decided not to go back...didn't instill a lot of confidence in me tbh .
  They are based in a small industrial unit in a large retail park and from what I saw (from the doorway) the Chinese lady who runs it probably does the measuring and fitting there and orders dresses in from China (pure speculation on my part and nothing wrong with this...it is a good way of getting a cheaper dress without paying the import duties I suppose).
  So I can confirm the company does exist and the actual sales are UK based. I have a feeling though that they have changed their name from The Cheshire Showroom (or something very similar) in the last few months and I don't know if this is significant at all.
• Ahh, these guys are 5 minutes from me!
  I have emailed them in the past, asking them a few questions and one was whether the dresses are made in the UK or not ~ whoever was replying to me dodged the question twice, then didn't even reply when I asked the 3rd time!
  I wouldn't touch them with anyone elses to be honest.
  May, you're right, they were called that on eBay, not sure if they still are or not.
• They are Allfordress on Ebay now too Shell. I also found another co. name on ebay with exactly the same photos and based on The Wirral but called something completely different (and for the life of me I can't remember what it was )...I dunno, unless someone has actually ordered from them and been delighted with the results then I would probably steer clear after Shellsuits experience too. I don't know of any local girls who have used them.

  i emailed the company regard a dress i'm after and after giving me a quote i asked them if they made the dresses in the U.K or abroad the answer i quote was :

  yes. you can collect it from the show room.

  We are based in UK with our own manufacturing plants of bridal and occasion wear in china. We also supply our dress to high street bridal shop.

  Plus the comments about how badly made a couple of the dresses were.
  They weren't as accomodating when I emailed them a few months ago as they kept dodging the question when I asked them were the dresses made in China.
  I'm not knocking dresses made in China at all, but if I were to get one, this company would be the last I'd choose, and they are right on my doorstep practically.
• LOL!!! Thanks everyone!! One to avoid then...did think it'd be a miracle to find such a lovely (IMHO) dress elsewhere and be made to good quality! Ah well, back to the drawing board!!
• Just thought it would be helpful to let you know about my experience with this company as most people who have posted on this forum havn't actually bought anything from them. I bought my wedding dress from them just before Christmas and could not be more pleased with my dress. Unfortunately I live too far away to be able to visit the showroom but Ann was really helpful when I emailed her. My dress arrived within 6 weeks as stated on their site. I was a bit worried about getting a dress I had never seen or got properly measured for but when it arrived I was so pleased, the dress is stunnning and so unique. It was custom made in the colour I requested and it fits perfectly. It could pass for a dress that cost 10 times what it actually did. I don't know where the dress was made but I don't think that matters, it's a beautiful dress wherever it was made.
  I have no links to the company, I'm not a friend of a friend or anything who is trying to help out the company but I'm posting this as a genuine customer. I don't like getting ripped off or poor quality so I wouldn't be posting this if I hadn't been so pleased with my dress. I would highly recommend allfordress if, like me, you are a bride to be looking for a dress that is a good price but still unique, well made and good quality.

  I've never posted on a chat forum before, so , please go easy on me, lol.
  I bought my dress from cheshire Showroom through ebay in November. I cant comment on other people's experiences, I just wanted to tell you about mine. My experience was a good one. I took a risk when buying my dress as I didnt go to visit them, I had only seen the picture on e-bay. Lukily I knew the style would suit me from previous dress shopping. Dress shopping wasn't a good experience for me, Im a size 24 and not many shops had dresses my size.
  I instantly fell in love with my dress when I saw the picture. It arrived within 5 weeks, and fits like a glove. Hides all my lumps and bumps, makes me look like I have a flat stomach. Im so happy with my dress, I really cant wait to wear it for my wedding.
  Ann was so nice to me, even when I forgot to send some measurements, lol.
  I dont know where the dresses are made. I would recomend Cheshire Showroom/All for dress to anyone.
