A question about : Anybody switching to Co-op heard from them yet?

Has anybody else who did the Co-op energy switch via the MSE Cheap Energy Club actually heard from them yet? I applied 11 days ago and thought I might have at least had an email by now.

Best answers:

  • Switched via Cheap Energy Club on MSE Fri 02/01/2015 13:13 and not had anything yet from them - saving Ј65 a month too so really hoping they do fulfil
Your application to switch your energy supply to Co-operative Energy Fair and Square March 2016 is now in process. We reckon you'll be paying Ј 784.62 per year less than if you'd not switched.
  • Will my supplier contact me?
Yes, your new supplier will contact you to confirm the date of your new supply and the first payment in the next few weeks.
  • Can the supplier reject me?
In a small number of cases the energy supplier won't accept a switch due to incorrect details entered or past payment issues. If that's the case we'll let you know in a separate email as soon as we know.
  • Switched online 27/12/14
    Received welcome pack e-mail 11/01/15
    Target switch date 17/02/15
  • Finally got my email yesterday.
  • Applied to switch through MSE on 7 Jan; finally got my initial email from Co-op yesterday (18 Jan).
Not very impressed that this has taken 11 days. Not clear whether this is a delay at MSE Energy Club or on Co-op side. They seem to also be starting their 14 day cooling off period from yesterday so it's going to be 25 days before they even kick off the process.
Their welcome letter states 'Switching over will take about 6 weeks to complete' - they clearly haven't taken much notice of the Ofgem guidance that switches should happen in 17 days! In my case their estimated date is 24.2.15 which is 7 weeks since I started it.
    Not a very inspiring start!
  • I'm thinking of cancelling the contract within the cooling off period, see whether the current round of price cuts will make a better deal. Got about 5 days to decide .....
  • I did my switch on 9th Jan, but not heard anything yet.
I originally went for the "Fair and Square March 2016" tariff, but that seems to have been replaced by the "Fair and Square March 2016 V2" tariff now, so not sure which one I will get.
I want the new V2 tariff as it is cheaper.
Anyone in a similar situation? Did you get put on the V2 tariff?
  • At the beginning of this year I switched to dual fuel with sainsburys as BG could not directly switch me to dual fuel and I was a gas cust. With them but was wanting to add elect. Moving from EON. Sainsbury energy did it immediately and I am actually a BG customer! Nectar points as well. Cheap energy club have confirmed that it is almost the best and them said sainsburys jan 2016 would be a good move from feb2015. Coop and all the fewabovehave bad customer service. Sainsburys still read the meters, one visit and send bills. They sent me my ending current tariff letter in time and I changed instantly to jam 2016 with instant savings and reduced DD. No cancellation fees. BG has just announced price cuts so sainsburys rep told me to check website after feb27 and ring them to transfer without cancellation fees if better tariff. So I could not be more happy. Walace58
  • I got a letter asking for meter numbers, meter point reference number and meter point administration number about two weeks after starting the process. The meter point administration number should be on my bill apparently but it isn't. I called them up (why is there no dedicated switching number?) and, after many attempts where I gave up, finally queued for 12 minutes only to be told that the meter point administration number should be on my meter. I've just checked and it isn't there either so back to call queue hell for me. I really don't have time for this and I don't remember going through this pain last time I switched. The way things are going I might just not bother as I'm seriously unimpressed so far.
  • I've been with them three years and service has always been fine.
I assume as the world and his brother now want in, the service is suffering due to increased demand.
Saying which, launching a new improved version of F&S March 2016 when you haven't yet administered the piles of new business you already have to deal with would appear self-inflicted misery.
I've emailed them to ask for my switch to F&S to be amended to V2 as well.
  • I switched on the 10th Jan and still haven't received anything from them. I called the helpline number on the Co-op website but a recorded message says they will contact all new customers by the end of January. If it's then going to take them six weeks to complete the switch it all seems quite poor service? Surely they would have known Martin's advice to switch was coming so why not staff accordingly? I don't understand how companies in this situation can act surprised...
  • Started the switch to Co-op on 17th Jan through MSE; received the Welcome Pack today (20th Feb) with a supply date of 29th March - 10 weeks by my calculations. Doesn't bode well!
