A question about : Any Bonus for over 50's

silverlady=grey hair granny
Does anyone know if there is a site giving information on benefits or discounts given to the over 50's or over 60's in shops etc
B&Q Focus DIY Rosebys give 10% discount on a certain day each week but I'm sure there are many more. Can anyone help or are you all too young?
Thanks

  • National Express coach people offer "up to 30%" savings through their Advantage 50 scheme. It costs Ј10 for one year or Ј19 for three years.
Would rather be under 50 and pay full fare but ....

  • Thanks Keenstonian. I know what you mean, I too would prefer to be under 50 and pay full fare but I'm sad to say old age comes to us all. I'm trying to fight it and grow old disgracefully.
  • You know when you are really getting old when you go in B&Q and all the staff look younger than you!
There has to be advantages in growing old - hasn't there?
  • With regard to Focus DIY stores - 10% discount on Tuesdays to over 60s who hold their Privilege card.
Would have thought that once over 60 you might want to let someone else do it! However, if needed get your Gran to sign up for the card and subsequent discount.
  • its not "over 60" its "60 or better"
  • Wyevale Garden Centres have 10% off for the over 60s with a Tuesday Card . See www.wyevale.co.uk
  • In reply to Any Bonus for over 50's - start from your usual search engine, eg Google, key in:

    press Enter or click Go
You will find a whole array of links and sites to visit.
    Happy hunting!!
  • Diamond Club members and a guest (aged 60+) can enjoy a 25% discount on restaurant meals in over 125 participating outlets throughout the UK. At Country Carvery restaurants, you can enjoy a delicious 2 course meal from just Ј5.85 anytime Monday to Friday and up until 3pm on Saturdays.

  • As far as I can see the only advantage of being 60 (nearly - and counting the days|!) is that I can still choose to retire at 60 and not 65 (or even 70 as they are trying to have it!).
  • I don't know if this applies to all their stores but Littlewoods in Lincoln give a 20% discount in their restaurant to "senior citizen " all day Wednesdays. I enquired what the actual age was and the cashier said it should be 65 but was applying the discount to anyone 60 plus. ( I hope I don't get her into trouble ! ) . The food is good so it is worth it.
On the subject of the Focus discount , the Newark store gives it every day of the week. This might just be a local thing because Homebase opened a store a few months ago and they might be trying to hang on to customers.
