A question about : And now, the end is near...
The arrival of 2015 has not only brought a year of new opportunity but has also presented me with the first time I can say, 'My IVA finishes next year'.
In reality I still have 15 months to go, but just the thought of knowing my IVA will finish in 2016 is a powerful psychological shift. When I started out on this journey in 2010, getting to the end seemed a lifetime away. Making those early payments felt almost pointless and futile when financial freedom was still such a distant goal.
But the time does pass, and heaven knows it's not been easy, but the most important thing to carry along the way is that there is an end point. We do have the opportunity to bring to an end something that has suffocated and depressed us for so many years. We do have a clear mark in the sand telling us that we will be free at this time.
For anyone starting out on the IVA road, or thinking about it, not only make sure you get rock-solid advice and use one of the reputable organisations, but also take comfort in the fact that you are taking positive action for the benefit of your future. Don't spend a moment longer than you have to drowning in debt when there is a way out with the right professional advice.
I spent 25 years drowning, my only regret that I didn't take action sooner.
The first step is the hardest but no-one gets anywhere standing still.
