A question about : 5000 Free Nectar Points

Just received an email from the Mutal Net advertising the Sainsbury Visa Card via American Express. Terms and Conditions below

For what you can and can’t earn points on visit www.nectar.com. †You could earn up to 4 points per Ј1 spent at participating sponsors: that's 2 points on your Nectar Credit Card and 2 points on your Nectar loyalty card. 4 points per Ј1 offer only available on non petrol spend at participating BP Connect and BP Express stores. May be worth it for the points if you dont mind your credit card score being affected !! Simply apply, use for a shop, pay off and then leave with the other 10,000 cards you have applied for !!! Plus no annual fee so another winner !

Link is https://www66.americanexpress.com/ea...ode=X66791YC85

Am sure that this has no referrals links however if has then can moderator pse remove !

Rgds to all

  • I have already got the Nectar Am Ex (for the points offer earlier in the year, and I'm sure lots of others did the same), but if they are now offering a Visa card with 5000 bonus points then I'd apply for that too.
However I'm not sure the offer is for a Visa card as the link takes you to an application for the American Express card (which is subtly different to a Visa card)
Also there is no mention of the bonus points on the Am Ex page...
  • Hi Morganb,
At the bottom of the page it asks if you are a Nectar holder, assume that after this it will ask you for your card number in order to allocate you your points. Sorry, you are correct it is not a visa but an American Express card. Point is though just to get, use once, pay off and then sit back and select free gift from the nectar site !!!
    Hope this helps,
    Rgds.
  • Hi there gavsmillie. I agree its a good deal but maybe you should change your title to Am Ex Nectar Credit Card (which is what it is) as most people will have already applied for this offer when it was first launched and it will save lots of unecessary comments and clicking from people who already have it?
  • 5000 nectar points is only worth £25, (or £50 at adams). Not a great deal really...
  • Changed title - thanks for tip lisa !!!
Only worth £25 or £50 at Adams - Am I missing the point but is this not a money saving site ? Presently is also worth double points on the Sainsbury Nectar site so could gain you an exchange of 10000 points.
    Rgds
  • prolly just being an idiot but where does it say about the points??
    Great Post!
  • No worries, Is in the first line of the terms and conditions as below:
*If approved for the Nectar Credit Card before 30th September 2006 you will receive 5,000 Nectar
bonus points when the Card is used for the first time.
    Hope this helps.
    Rgds
  • I got mine from freefivers last month..they give you £25 cash and you get 1000 nectar points when you first use the card{which I got within a week of using it]..
  • As an allegedly overpaid civil servant, my salary is too low to qualify  Still a good heads up though, OP
  • quidco offers £35 cashback on top....
so £60 worth total. More while double pts last.
  • Has this offer changed as I can't see anything about bonus nectar points even in the terms and conditions?
  • Not as far as aware. Have looked and offer of free points is still there. You have to click on Nectar card holder at the bottom and then up pops the form you have to fill in below.
Agree with greyster in that if you go thru Quidco and then select Amercian Access it will give you an option of Nectar card (Ј35 cashback) and again you can then select the Nectar option to fill in your card and receive 5000 points once you have made one spend.
    Hope this helps,
    Rgds.
  • From AmEx website:-----2 If approved for the Nectar Credit Card from American Express you will receive 1,000 bonus Nectar points when your credit card is used for the first time-----It says 1,000 points not 5,000 and www.nectar.com says 3,000. Has the offer changed or am I missing something?thanksTT
  • See post #1 from this thread - States in T%Cs. Assume by following this link it links you into that offer. Original offer was from Mutal net so assuming that they have better deal.
    Good luck,
    Rgds.
  • I want to do this but i can't see the 5,000 point reference anywhere on the linked page.
With regard to quidco ... you need to open a seperate browser page and click the referral link to American Express and then in a seperate window, click the link on this page.
If you just click through on quidco and find the card, I will assume you only get the standard 1,000 nectar point bonus as advertised on their site.
But as I said ... still holding out for this "5,000 point" reference first. Martin refers to them offering up to "6k" sometimes?
  • Greyster,
What you need to do is log onto Quidco as normal, select the Finance section and then select AA Card. You then have to click onto the "click here to visit this merchant and earn cashback.
Once here click on the home page link at the top left, Click on the personal cards and then select from the the "APPLY FOR ANOTHER CARD" section the AMEX Credit card. This will allow you to select the nectar card in the box below. Click on apply now and it will take you to the Nectar card page. By now you should have clicked on all the right links to qualify for the Quidco money. Now insert the following in the Address link at the top of your IE and press go. This has a reference in it as far as I can see " MUT&AFFID" which is the reference for the 5000 points, which should guarentee you the full points. I am now going to do this myself just to prove it does work !!! This should bring my card count to 10001 !! You must insert and then click and not just click on below as it will bypass the Quidco references.

Will let you know if I get the money and points later,
Good luck on your go !!
    Rgds.
  • Greyster,
Just applied. Now waiting for confirmation.
Remember you will not get the points until you make first purchase.
    Best Rgds
  • did it track on quidco?
  • I managed to get 6000 points (eventually!) when I took out an AMEX card earlier in the year - remember waiting for Amex to give them to us!
Well, I've bided my time (been lazy in fact!) but I went to cancel my card last night with Amex and they wanted my reason.
I informed them that Tesco gave me a better deal in terms of loyalty points and their card had no benefits that I wanted. The conversation went on...............
"How about if I give you 2-3 thousand Nectar points for you to keep it as a back up card and don't cancel it?"
"What about 5000 points?" I replied
"Okay, I'll credit your card with 5000 points and we'll expect you to spend on it"
I've checked my Amex statement and there an 5000 points shown in the running total. Cross reference with Nectar confirms there are 5000 extra points in my amex online access.
    Wish I'd asked for more!
Go on then Fill your boots, start cancelling your old cards for more points - furthermore it won't be affecting your credit rating.
Just go down the route of cancelling your card to get this - like me if you do get the points great (I'll cancel next month), if you don't, you've got rid of an unattractive card!
