What's the deal?
We’ve had a host of reports from canny forumites that Tesco is selling a raft of items for just 1p. We originally highlighted this in Sept 2010 but have updated the post below with recent finds. Bargains currently on offer include Lindt balls, calendars & Xmas chocs.

It's worth noting that with people flooding into stores, a few MoneySavers have not had a good reception from staff. It’s worth being aware of this.
Yet when we spoke to Tesco's press office (last Sept) and its official statement was It’s not a systems error. These lines are discounted stock, they’ve been reduced to clear. The 1p stock is rare and won’t be available in each store.
So, while every store reserves the right not to sell stock if there is a genuine pricing error, in most of these cases they should sell it to you.

How to find 'em
These hidden bargains are not marked as 1p on the shelves, but scan at 1p when you get to the tills.
The easiest way to check is to beep the barcodes on Tesco’s price-scan machines. Yet these are only available at certain stores, so the alternative’s to swipe the bits at the self-service checkouts or the till (if it's not 1p and you don't want it, just cancel).
Do remember that, while many 1p bargains been found in multiple shops, they do vary from store to store. This is a bit of fun, NOT a guaranteed deal.

Is this legit?
The law on this is simple. If your items scan at 1p at the checkout, Tesco staff can reject the sale and tell you it can't be bought. However, if it accepts your money, the deal's done and the product is yours at that price – there is no comeback (unlike when this happens online).
Buying a few 1p bits as part of a normal shop will help. Yet march up to the counter with 10 umbrellas and 10 shampoos, and the cashier may not sell them to you for 20p.

Misstress - Ladies pair of pink socks with a pic of a jelly on and writing underneath saying 'wibble wobble' - 1p
Supersally01 - I found a 1p umbrella at Tesco Inverness. Totes brand, pink, black and white stripe, one of the folded really small type. Not marked down on shelf, but went through till at 1p. Great for the kids at school, or fits in handbag.
angeldawn62 - Picked up a black and grey Technika camera bag with strap for 1p, sorry I dont have any more details but gave it to my dad. It was attached to a card and hanging with the other camera bags, was priced as 1p on a yellow label at the front of the hook they were hanging on - yes there were more than one there but I only took one.
little_miss-welsh - F&F Signature 2 pack of 40 denier black knee highs
Blk / white / grey packaging with a pair of womans legs on
Was Ј2.50 full price, marked down to Ј1.25. scanned at 1p.

Diamond dave - I found Mr t's cappuccino(?) in Camborne (Cornwall) store not bad especially for 1p!
emmalouise_n - Tesco in MK, pack of 3 pairs of baby socks for 1p - tag said Ј2!mens slippers at 1p!
glitterpops - sorry no barcode as this was last month... they are brown fleece slippers with red fleece inside. DH is wearing them now. So excited at the time I shouted across the carpark to a colleague i'd spotted... not marked at 1p, had a price of Ј2 down from Ј6 I think.
austin - belkin iPod Touch leather case + screen protector - scanned at 1p!
stuartc - 5 bars of "Discount Brand" plain chocolate scanned at 1p!
claire - Bags of Cafe Direct Kilimanjaro Ground coffee 227g scanning at 1p.
maxwellhouse - a thin black patent belt with a diamonte clasp - really nice and priced at Ј1 in the clearance area but went through self scan at 1p so I was chuffed!
curley kale - Not particularly exciting but found some garden plant ties - reduced to 25p on shelf. Bought 2 packs one scanned @12p and the other @ 1p !

Will definately be looking on here again before I pop to Tesco's. - I agree its a fab idea for a thread and I will certainly add any finds
One suggestion though, add the product barcode as it will make old stock that is marked for clearance (which is what these 1p finds are) easier to distinguish from any replacements that may be on the shelves. - Tesco in MK, pack of 3 pairs of baby socks for 1p - tag said Ј2!

Big thank you , just been to my local Mr T and got the stig socks for 1p ..... bought 4 pairs but plenty left on the shelf - Yes, sorry, marked up at Ј2. We've got a price-checker scan thingy at our store so I popped along to the aisle where it is and double checked before I went through checkout.

Then had an argument with Sales assistant who wouldnt let me have them. So I went and got some more and took them through self scan!
If anyone finds a 1p item take them thru self scan as otherwise you may get the argument i got! - had a look at all listed but none in the store i went to ...
- Would it be possible for people to post the barcodes please? Would make it easy for people without a pricechecker machine in their store.
