A question about : Need to transfer & convert ~8000 EUR to UK/Sterling: Who's got the best exchange rate

Hi Everyone!
I have a German and a UK bank account, and those 8k are for student fees. So I'm on a student budget and I rrrreally don't fancy leaving a lot of that with a bank. I could let my German bank convert it first, then transfer it (bad exchange rate) or transfer in Euro and let my UK bank convert it (coop bank; not great exchange rate).

Urge our expert to look at the sudden change in Crown Currency's approach in late summer to SHORTER deals offering more and more unbelievable rates. Does this indicate panic measures to deal with a big short term cashflow problem?

Also would like him to investigate why clients' money was not placed in a ring fenced account.

A question about : Transferring salary from Norway to UK

My Norwegian employers send our salary direct to our UK bank accounts (apparently via Lloyds, who distribute it for some reason) - My account is with Santander.

This month the employers rate via their bank to use for transferring to us is 10.07NOK to the GBP. However we are being told by some of our banks that we would have got 9.5 to the GBP. Meaning we lose about Ј250 a month due to the difference.

A question about : Ryanair cash passport

We have been clients of Ryanair for some time now, well aware of their tricks to catch the unwary etc but find their latest scheme,
the admin fee free Ryanair pre paid Mastercard [cah passport] over the top!
We have played their games with Visa electron and then FX Caxton prepaid mastercard but this latest scheme is even harder to get into.

A question about : sending currency abroad

I have to make fairly regular payments to Portugal,(amounts under 2000Ј) what is better, to send a sterling cheque there or to transfer via travelex? Would be grateful for some advise.

A question about : CCE

I was recently made redundant & only 3 weeks ago ordered some dollars for a longstanding trip to take my family away for Christmas - instead of presents this year when staying with friends.
Like everyone else involved this is a gutter but will have to dust outselves down & hope we can get some if not all our money back.
Still as long as we have each other & our health, it is worth more to me than the money - albeit I would prefer both

I am another traveller who has lost money with CCE but for those of you who mention about taking credit cards and you would have been protected which is true - but CCE would have been charged bank fee's which they would have passed onto the customer and you the customer would have a fee from your bank because the bank would have treated the transaction as a cash withdrawal...so nobody wins except the bank.
