USD to GBP Likelihood of big change in rates?

A question about : USD to GBP Likelihood of big change in rates?

Hi

Bought an electrical item in the USA which I will be bringing back in a couple of weeks.

It cost $634 which works out at Ј385 which is just under the Ј390 allowance.

If the exchange rate does change and takes me above the Ј390 I will get stung bu all sorts of fees when I bring it back.

What is the likelihood of the exchange rates changing that much to take it over the threshold? Know you cant predict the future but historically does it change that much?

Many thanks

Thomas Cook Cash Passport

A question about : Thomas Cook Cash Passport

Does anyone have experience of Thomas Cook Cash Passports? I'm going to Italy soon and to France in the summer and like the idea that the passport is not linked to a bank account and doesn't have personal details on the card.

Any help/information appreciated.

A question about : TSB debit and credit card overseas

      Hi,

Using MSE's travel money converter Ive found the best place for me (based on convenience and exchange rates) to buy some euros before I go abroad. However, once Im out there - and should I need any extra cash - whats the best thing I can do? I have a TSB debit card and credit card. Is it best for me to use my TSB debit card?

Is it legal to transfer money from abroad through private market?

A question about : Is it legal to transfer money from abroad through private market?

My parents living abroad gave us money to put towards the deposit for the house. However that country has lots of restrictions on sending money abroad. We're found a service which can help us find people who want to send money the other way (UK - that country).
The way it works is I send my parents' money abroad to someone within that country, then someone sends me the equivalent amount in Pounds in UK (means money still in borders of both countries)

        Turkish Lira

A question about : Turkish Lira

        Hi All,

1st of all, apologies if this thread is anywhere else but I haven't been able to find it.

I am going to Turkey in June and can't decide on the best way for taking spending money.

Looking at MSE, the Halifax Clarity CC is a good option but there is no guarantee of getting the credit limit you require and you can only use 50% of your limit for cash so doesn't really work for me.

Prepaid cards - There doesn't seem to be any with the option for Lira, I know this is available in Euros but again I would prefer Lira.
