A question about : Ryanair cash passport

We have been clients of Ryanair for some time now, well aware of their tricks to catch the unwary etc but find their latest scheme,
the admin fee free Ryanair pre paid Mastercard [cah passport] over the top!
We have played their games with Visa electron and then FX Caxton prepaid mastercard but this latest scheme is even harder to get into.
After several attempts by both of us to unsuccessfully purchase one of these cards [just like it is to try to lodge an email complaint with them on line - no wonder they claim such a high customer satisfaction rating] we rang their super expensive 0871 service number and found ourselves talking to a TravelEx customer service centre. When they eventually listened we found out that we could not purcahse this card online as we apparently weren't on the electoral roll at our current address which they use to verify online [the only way] purchases.

We asked Travelex when they would be updating their electoral roll data base and they said no time soon! We were also told that if Ryanair had a staff member based at an office of Travelex the online problem could easily be circumvented. When asked when this would be happening ..................................... no time soon was the answer!

Thus it is not currently possible for us to purchase a Ryanair cash passport.

This situation is clearly unethical, and dishonest business practice, and surely doesn't conform with/satisfy consumer legislation requiring Ryanair to have a fee free card.

  • Well it seems that some joker on here posted the email address of cardservices@accessprepaid.com.
After that I posted to give credit to Ryanair for some good flights I have enjoyed in the past.
At that time I said I would email , cardservices@accessprepaid.com for details of how to get their card.
I did this and it seems that the email address is invalid and comes back with the message, "Unable to deliver message to the following recipients"
I wanted to update my post but for some reason it is being edited here.
So...does anyone know how we get hold of a cash Passport so we can continue to play Ryanair's games?
  • I was that joker. Correct email address is Cardservices@accessprepaidww.com who have contacted me, asking for ID and promising to send me an application form - they don't say why I can't apply online
  • Is everything on the Internet a scam? I am beginning to think so.
Don't send an email to Cardservices@accessprepaidww.com as they don't do Ryanair's cash passport card.
I sent an email and got a reply asking for more information from a company calling themselves Access Prepaid Worldwide.
They don't give any information about Ryanair's cash passport card. They have a range of other prepaid cards but I'm not even sure if they are a legitimate company at all as their telephone number is just constantly on answer machine. So be warned! Don't part with you cash too easily.
It seems to be quite easy to get Ryanair's cash passport card. from the Ryanair website. I may do it sometime in the future but you will have to be careful as they will deduct money from your card if you don't use it after 6 months at the rate of Ј2.50 per month.
It seems Ryanair, this time, have brought down getting cheap flights to a very difficult game to play.
  • I too have been unable to get the Passport and I've been on the electoral roll here for over 30 years!! Unbelievable system - it would be interesting to know how many others are unable to get one via the Ryanair website.
  • I'm trying to get one "manually"
Email to Cardservices@accessprepaidww.com to say I can't get one via the website
Reply asking for copy passport and driving licence
Emailed same - heard nothing for 5 days
Phoned Travelex/Mastercard in Peterborough (01733 457300 for anyone who needs it) very helpful staff, but hadn't received email (I used Bitmap for the images - don't)
Emailed again, this time copying and pasting images of passport and licence into a Word document - success!
Received application form as attacment to email, filled it in and sent it back
Email asking for a copy of my signature
Printed out application form, signed it, scanned it, sent it back as attachment (Jpeg this time, politely pointing out that both passport and driving licence showed my signature)
    Received acknowledgement.
Waiting to see what happens next.
  • Further to post no. 6, I am now the proud owner of a Ryanair Cash Passport - staff at Travelex all very halpful (and easy to get through to) and card arrived 11 days after requesting it.
  • Web application rejected. Ryanair contact required scanned documentation - sent-received-accepted. Needed to pay in to Access Worldwide - HSBC could not accommodate. The wonderful Private Banking service identified that it was a Travelex card, but my reference number - even prefixed with eight noughts wouldn't work (apparently Travelex hadn't heard of it). I then transferred sufficient funds to my Halifax Electron (for use with Flybe) and then managed to make the required payment. NOW ........ will my Passport card arrive??? Liz
  • Following advice on this blog I telephoned Travelex and explained I kept being refused on the Ryanair CashPasport site. The told me to do the following:
    email: cardservices@accessprepaidww.com
Tell them that I have been trying to buy the Ryanair Cash Passport online and have been unsucessfull and that I wish to apply manually.
    Include in email:
    1. Full Name
    2. Full address, including postcode.
    3. Date you tried to do the transaction online.
attach a copy of your passport and one utility bill.
hopefully I will get my card soon .... another Ryanair hoop jumped through.
  • I, too, had trouble with on-line application, got to the very end then my card verification process failed.
I e-mailed card services who quickly replied, told me to try another browser and if this didn't work to download and fill in on-line their application form, then send it with scanned copies of proof of identity etc.
I am on IE8 but tried Google Chrome and it worked.
Then stupidly I registered myself as Mr, this is the Title default and I missed it out. However I e-mailed then immediately and thankfully got a reply today saying they'd amended it.
I will only use the card for Ryanair flights, just as I used Visa Electron for EasyJet, hopefully we will be using it 3 times per year but if not will just buy something, get charged 50p for using the card and thus avoid the non--use fee.
I had a store card for years, another card service took over and threatened to charge Ј10 if not used for 6 months. I cancelled it pronto!
  • It is simply ridiculous, as many other things in the bluellow world of ryanair. They "impose" the prepaid card and the customers have to struggle to find the way trough to get it. I had to go for three different browsers (Mozzilla, IE9, and GoogleChrome) before to be able to buy the card (Chrome). BTW, let's see when I will receive it if the 6Ј voucher is included. finger crossed.
  • I received my passport promptly, activated the card with a freephone no. which also told you your pin code.
Also enclosed was a voucher ref. number which you type into the voucher/code box, it has about 18 digits.
However trying to book a flight seemed to take forever, so many pop-up advert pages, and its no good ignoring them, you have to actively de-select.
Be careful when you come to the insurance part, next to your named passenger is a drop-down box, you must trawl through reams of countries of residence before discovering hidden halfway down a No cover required title.
also when paying be sure to scroll right down and tick Cash Passport, it seems a few people have ticked Ryanair Card and been stung for booking charges.
Also as I had loaded my card with Ј150 + Ј6 refundable voucher, I was then rather miffed to find the flights I had been previously been looking at had shot up, goodness knows why in the middle of March, therefore rendering me unable to book anyway as I hadn't enough money on the card, and it takes 24hr to reload.
  • I was able to get a Ryan air cash passport online with no trouble. However I have just used it and they have charged me the Ј12 per person addministration fee (which for me was Ј72) Is it for real or just a con . Now I am left with the almost impossible task of getting Ryanair to refund me. I should have known better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Are you sure that you selected the correct card to pay with from the card selection? If you choose Ryanair credit card for instance then that would explain the charge. Ryanair credit card is not the cash passport card.
  • The same thing happened. I sent an email to the same address and they blamed the browser I was using. I then tried to get the card on 3 different browsers at different times, without success.
They (Access Prepaid Worldwide) then emailed me: "If you wish to proceed with you order, please complete the attached application form and return to us by e-mail along with clear scanned copies of the following documentation: proof of identity and proof of address.
We will confirm receipt within 24 hours and advise on the progress of your order.
If your application is successful we will provide you with details of how to load a minimum amount onto your Ryanair Cash Passport and pay the Ј6.00 purchase fee by bank transfer."
Way to make a process very complicated. I am a big user of Ryanair flights as they go straight to where my family lives but I have not seen 1 positive comment regarding this card and it worries me a bit.
Not sure what to do and don't like to send a copy of those confidential documents...
  • Have just received my 2 cards and made flight booking entering the voucher in the appropriate box.....surprise surprise!....the voucher did not give me the discount. Anyone out there had the same problem?
  • I've recently got a Ryanair cash passport card & have no complaints.
It arrived in two days -- I authorised it that same day & booked my flights.
It didn't charge me admin fees [as advertised] & it deducted the price of the card as well.
As you have to load Ј156 first time -- my flights [2 to Murcia & back] came to Ј83.76 less the voucher [Ј6] giving a Ј77.76 difference -- leaving a balance on the card of Ј72.24
Our friends have decided to come with us at this price -- so I topped it up with Ј20 from my bank account [next day & a confirmation Email] & bought their tickets & still have Ј6 left!
So -- to beat Ryanair -- use the Mastercard Cash Passport only to buy flights -- as foreign currency conversions & everything else incur a charge.
Make sure that you leave as little as possible in the account.
It has to be used within 6 months to avoid a Ј2.50 per month charge.
Top it up with say Ј20 before the 6 months are up -- buy some goods with it [at supermarket, petrol etc]. Ryanair will charge you only 50p.
Do the same before the next 6 months if you don't buy flights & so on.
I saved Ј48 on my flights for the 50p charge due in 6 months time.
    Crafty Davestax.
  • I received my Ryanair cash passport in 2 days, on-line application went fine, voucher code gave 6 pounds off, admin fee was not charged. No complaints or troubles whatsoever!
