A question about : Breaking down euros in UK bank..illegal?

MY Mother has a few euro hundred notes, and wanted to break them down into 50, 20, 10's for her kids spending money when they go on holiday. She went to a well known bank who told her they could not do it as it was illegal?

...I guess if that's what they say then this is true, can anyone confirm, it just seem ridiculous, I can understand the fight against organized crime, but 100 euro note?

A question about : Cuba Confusion

It is clear that any credit/debit card related to an American Bank is not easy to use in Cuba. What is not so clear is the situation with eg my Halifax Mastercard and Halifax visa debit card. Also can the Thomas Cook pre load travel card be used. Anyone had recent relevant experience?

A question about : MasterCard exchange rate vs 'inter bank exchange rate' / Metro bank customers

Hi all

I recently joined Metro Bank as I'm planning on spending some months abroad and it seemed like the best option for converting my sterling. As I understand it, it performs the same as the Halifax Clarity card touted on MSE with regards to no fees, plus I can use ATMs without incurring interest.

A question about : Going to Prague

Hi,

I'm off to Prague this evening and wondered if anyone knows where the best place to exchange pound sterling to Czech crown is?

I would ideally like to get Ј50 exchanged here in the UK and the the rest exchanged once I'm over there as apparently you get a better rate?

I'm off to town in an hour to sort it out so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

A question about : Money for trip to Jamaica

Hi there

I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm leaving for Jamaica on Monday 29 April 2013, so I don't have enough time to get a new credit card.

I was thinking of getting a Travelex prepay card from Sainsburys, but I just want to know if when I get to Jamaica I can draw out US dollars. If not, what is the safest way (with good rates) to take my money to Jamaica.

A question about : Cheapest Hight Street Walk in Exchange Rate

I just bought Turkish Lira walk in @ The Money Shop for the rate of 310 per UK pound. Post office and other high street places were offering only 296 and I was amazed that it matched most online pre order rates, give or take.

I bought only Ј100 worth, so may be worth checking out if you don't have time to pre order. It didn't appear in the list of places to go on the currency tool on this site.
