A question about : Ash Cloud 2010

We were stranded in Mallorca in April 2010 for days due to the so-called ash cloud, and eventually had to make our own way home to England by air, rail, road and sea.

We have had our claim for travel expenses stalled by our insurers, Essential Travel (underwritten by Axa), and their useless loss adjusters, Claims Settlement Agencies, for more than a year. They said that the cloud was not weather, and thus we were not covered.

I sent a claim in by email on 29 April, attaching all the documentation for my claim (8 days hotel and food, plus extended car parking).

Hi there, due to fly out on to Barcelona on Thursday.
I'm just wondering if anyone who experienced this last year has any advice for those of us who may face a similar situation this time around.
I've got insurance, and am supposed to be covered for this eventuality.
Anything else I need to know about?

Hiya, I just wanted to let anyone out there know who was involved in the flight disruption last year that i have this week been agreed a payout from Expedia.

Just heard on the news that because KLM have ignored the Dutch government and not paid compensation in full (they only paid 1 night) they have been warning by the EU that they will take them to court if they dont compensate in full.

A question about : Easyjet claim

I was left grounded by the ash cloud in April last year and the Easyjet flight I had from Faro to London was cancelled.

Things are more complicated than usual because a friend of mine paid for the flight with her credit card. After the cancellation I put in a refund claim for the flight and my friend was paid back directly. All fine so far.

However, I then realised that Easyjet were offering to refund other incurred costs, ie extra hotel nights and other transport costs, costs which I paid for with my own card.
