A question about : Due to travel 31st May

Hello all

Just some info really, we are due to go Portugal next Tuesday, flights and apartment booked separately. I have been told that if our flight is cancelled we wouldn't be able to claim for the hotel as we never booked it as a package, is that right?!?

Flights booked with onthebeach.co.uk (easyjet)
Hotel booked with freshholidays.com

A question about : Viking Airlines re branded

Hi all,
I hope some one can help. I now feel I have no options left to get my money back (Ј540) from the volcanic ash in April 2010.

My travel insurance will not pay out, Viking Airlines have now re branded, suspending all claimes and after a 10 week wait the ACU say there is no case and simply closed the file, even though I asked them not to.

When I was away I paid on credit card and they also said it was not their responsibility.

We have just found out that the hotel in which we were to hold our wedding this August is now to be closed for a refurb. We found out accidentally through a third party, then confirmed with our local agent. Suffice to say we are devastated.

Yet it appears that the hotel chain has had a notice on its website to this effect for 6 weeks, in which time we have had other guests book accommodation in the same area, yet the agent has apparently decided not to tell us.

A question about : Virgin Atlantic timescale

I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who has sent in a claim to Virgin Atlantic:
1) have you had a response to your claim (we submitted via email)
2) if so, any idea given of turnaround time
3) anyone received any cash yet? What sort of line have they taken on a 'reasonable' hotel etc.

Working on the basis it has taken them a couple of weeks to respond to the 'request a letter' for the travel insurers, this could run and run...
