A question about : Easyjet claim

I was left grounded by the ash cloud in April last year and the Easyjet flight I had from Faro to London was cancelled.

Things are more complicated than usual because a friend of mine paid for the flight with her credit card. After the cancellation I put in a refund claim for the flight and my friend was paid back directly. All fine so far.

However, I then realised that Easyjet were offering to refund other incurred costs, ie extra hotel nights and other transport costs, costs which I paid for with my own card.

I stayed an extra three nights in my hotel following the cancellation and then got a Eurolines coach to Paris and a eurostar train from Paris to London.

I am only now getting round to claiming for the extra costs incurred and unfortunately in the meantime have lost my orginal Easyjet booking reference. I have spoken to Easyjet customer services: they said they could not find my flight just by searching for my name in the database, because there are too many files (my name isn't very common so I am not sure why they can't search for it - anyone know?) but they could find the flight if I provided the credit card number used to pay for the flight. Unfortunately, my friend has now got a new card so the card number is different and she doesn't have the old number.

I have all the hotel, eurolines and eurostar receipts relevant to the claim that I need to make for extra costs incurred, but is there a way I can get my booking reference without going via the old card number method - or otherwise go about claiming another way? For info, my insurance company will not cover the costs.

Further, if the flight itself has already been refunded, am I still in a position to claim for the extra costs incurred, or is the file effectively closed because of that?

Many thanks in advance

Best answers:

  • Where's the booking confirmation e mail?
  • I guess I deleted it without realising... That was the first thing I looked for but I couldn't find it
  • Thanks for the suggestion nonetheless.
I'm wondering whether I could get Easyjet Customer Services to make a search for my name in their flight history, even if they suggest there is too much data to search through.
    Anyone have any other ideas?
  • Can you log-in to your bookings on easyJet.com https://www.easyjet.com/en/myeasyjet/signin ?
  • Ask your friend to contact their bank regarding the old CC number
