A question about : life assurance

good morning all

a good friend of the family asked me about the below:

when I read through it now it does look much like life insurance, although all the paperwork was given to me together with the mortgage and it never occurred to me to read through it all – I thought I was getting building cover – which when I started doing the pension research last year realised that I didn’t need as it was covered by the service charges on the flat – guess I should have paid more attention from day one

A question about : Car damaged by other driver

While I was stopped at a red light a car pulled past mine and scratched my car. It's still drivable, no injuries to passengers and I just want my bumper fixing and shouldn't have to pay when it's clearly not my fault as I was stationary.

The driver was really intimidating and made me cry (yes I am a loser) and in the end I called the police because he wasn't cooperating with giving me details.

A question about : Insurance for items worth under Ј500?

Hi, very new to this business so apologies if this is a stupid question.

I have a few items that are not worth more than Ј200 individually but recently I bought an engagement ring for Ј495. I want to insure it but initial searches bring me to blanket cover contents insurance which comes to about Ј20 a month with Ј100 excess.

A question about : Home insurance, coach house.

As above, hopefully this is the right place.
I'm moving into a coach house at short notice and am trying to sort out insurance.
I only need content as its a rental property but this is proving difficult.

What insurers will insure a coach house?
Churchill, nationwide and direct line don't seem to touch them.

Anyone had an experience like this?

A question about : Buildings insurance

I live in a property that had subsidence just over 20 years ago. Resulting in the house being underpinned. No subsequent problems siunce, however premiums are still today excessive because of this. How can i obtain cheaper cover ? Any help greatly appreciated

A question about : Multi car insurace

Hi,

We have four vehicles in the household so I am looking at multi car policies - they seem much better value for money as a new customer (I would effectively get two of the vehicles insured for 'free' vs my current costs), but I'm worried about the potential renewal cost after the first year as it seems to be much harder to compare policies between providers (and there are not nearly as many providers to choose from on multi-car!).

Has anyone got any multicar policy experience they would like to share?

A question about : Advice RE: Rental car due to write-off of car

Hi all. Advice needed.

Basically, my car was written off last month thanks to someone crashing into me. He has accepted liability, it turns out my car was declared a write-off.

A question about : When to start holiday insurance

Anybody know when I should start my holiday insurance? I am going on holiday in August and I'm unsure whether the start date should be today or the first day of my holiday. I'm going for a yearly family insurance but if I start it today would I be wasting all those months before my actual holiday starts or if I start it on the first day of my holiday would I still be covered for cancellation leading up to the holiday due to unforeseen eventualities, death in family or illness etc? Can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere.
