A question about : Buildings insurance
I live in a property that had subsidence just over 20 years ago. Resulting in the house being underpinned. No subsequent problems siunce, however premiums are still today excessive because of this. How can i obtain cheaper cover ? Any help greatly appreciated
Best answers:
- There are one or two insurers that have a cut off for when subsidence must be declared. Cant remember their names off hand but a search on here should find them as its not an uncommon discussion
- M + S (not a recommendation) ask if you had any subsidence in the last 10 years
There are "specialist" subsistence insurers who claim to be competitive, but you need to try their quotes (google subsidence insurers) and see how true that is - and bear in mind the difficulties in swapping insurers with a history of subsidence (should you move, then your previous insurer probably won't have you back should the new insurer go bad in the future)
