A question about : Total loss claim settled but policy not cancelled.

I had a burglary at my home and the theif took a set of car keys and a car. The incident was proven to the police,CCTV etc.
My car insurance company accepted the claim and although the vehicle was recovered they deemed it a total loss. They settled quickly and made payment minus excess and minor costs.
All good.

A question about : Home Insurance NCD Query

Hi all, I had a joint policy (me and the mrs) for 2 years.
If I get a policy just in my name do the 2 years No Claims Discount still count?

• NCD is not as a developed an idea in Home as it is in Motor.
  Most insurers would be happy with it, a few would only be happy with the first named person on the letter claiming it. To be safe, just double check with the insurer in question

A question about : Landlord Insurance for leasehold flat

Hi all, may I pick your knowledgeable brains please?

I have a leasehold flat of which all the owners are directors. I am renting it out - tenants moved in saturday. I pay a management fee to our management agent which already covers buildings insurance, maintenance, electricity of common parts etc.

How much landlord insurance do I need? Should I also insure the building in case of emergencies? or just cover loss of rent, legal costs, and minimum contents ( carpets and white goods)?

A question about : could you really prove ownership of everything you take on holiday?!

Yet another case of 'read the small print', but even then what in practical terms are you supposed to do?

The event was a break in to a hire car in New Zealand, luggage stolen. Reported to police etc. All seems 'reasonable' at that stage.

Unable to contact insurers as they are only open for business 9-5 Mon-Fri, yes really! No email contact possible either. Oh and theres a 13 hour time difference , oh and one of the things stolen was my Uk SIM......

We've always been above board and honest with all our household dealing but last year we took out a new home insurance with Swinton (buildings and contents). I thought I was answering honestly when I filled the form in and said we hadn't had any claims in the past 3 years.

Avoid like the plague
I took out Marks and Spence pet insurance a couple of years ago now and can honestly say they are a waste of time and would recommend everyone one to go elsewhere.
Fortunately I did not need to make a claim so I can’t comment on that side of the insurance which isn’t much help as it’s crucial to understand how Insurance companies deal with claims as this is when they are most needed.

Hi - just hubby and me and no mortgage.
Hubby 59 and just had a policy out - so I want to take out another one - I have a small life policy out next year when I am 59 too.

Have been looking at the 'no medical' ones as we both have health issues - and only want to pay Ј7-10 a month - but some are for 10yrs, some 20 and others for whole of life.
