A question about : My baby seedlings

Am a very happy bunny today. Have patiently watched, watered and waited..........and the seedlings are popping through happily now. The plants are well away but the veg have taken a little longer but sprouting now. The broccolli is going great guns.
So I have broccolli, carrots, peppers and leeks. Cabbage and lettuce will be done this weekend and I'm going to do another couple of broccolli to see me through later on in the year. Thanks to all that inspired me.

A question about : Newbie Gardener

I thought I'd start a thread for first time/newbie gardeners to gain advice from ye experts

I'm a novice, not quite new but way off experienced!
I was looking at the garden last weekend when it was lovely and sunny and thinking that it's time I was doing the odd bit but I don't know what I should be doing when
I grew runner beans this year which were pretty successful & also a few sweet peas which I think are one of my favourite & also pretty easy to grow flowers, apart from the greenfly!

A question about : Shed base spikes

Hi there,

I'm going to put a shed on my allotment and it's going to have a timber base made out of timber I've got left over from a building project (treated).

In order to drive down into the soil below, I'm after some shed spikes as per the link below but find Ј37 for this astronomical! Is there anything else I should be looking for that would suit in the building trade etc?

These just screw into the frame and then I drive them in until level etc. I will lay DMB under frame

A question about : Strawberry plants

I bought some strawberry plants a couple of months ago and put them in my planters but I have a question. The shoots that come off them and I presume are supposed to stick in the ground and regrow, if I nip these off and put them in hanging baskets, will they grow again next year or are they only for a year and then you have to buy more?

I've grown some veg for several years now but this year going for it big style (for me anyway). This is what I'm growing:

peas
runner beans
tomatoes (3 varieties)
lettuce
onions - grown all these before so know what to expect

herbs (got mint/thyme/parsley/sage/rosemary/pineapple mint/peppermint/chives/bay and will have basil)
