A question about : 4 packs seeds for Ј1 in the Works (Reading)

I was in the Reading branch in the mall today and they had several boxes of seeds marked at 4 for a Ј1.
they were about half way down the store on the left near the books.

from memory they had the following amongst the seeds (so there might be other ones)
alicante tomato
courgette
lettuce
cabbage
leeks
and assorted flower seeds.

didn't need to buy any as I have all I need for 2015
Not sure if this is store specific.

A question about : recommendations to replace a pampas grass

Hi,

Got a large pampas grass on our driveway.

Its not huge but the leaves are 4ft high, plumes over 7-8ft tall. Its no more than 4-5ft wide.

TBH, as pampas goes its a beautiful specimen, however, its too much hard work maintaining.

When our driveway gets done I'm gonna have it removed.

Looking for ideas to replace it.

Something statuesque, beautiful, slow growing.

Was wondering about a yucca or a palm.

A question about : rocket in pots?

I know tihs is late in the season, but Ive got some seeds mixed salad leaves collection (coriander, corn salad, mizuna, spinach medinia, rocket & mustanrd red giant ) in a combo pack from wilkos

Can I plant in pots? ONly my soil is rubbish ( took most of the hardcore out) but its dusty and without nutrients, pretty much everything is dying depsite fertilising & turning in some compost

A question about : Cleaning glass plant trays?

I have several glass saucers that have been used under house plants. They are mucky. I've tried washing with Fairy, but they still have deposits on them. Scrubbing the glass, as I would with terracotta pots, is a no-no.
Any ideas on what I could use to dissolve the deposits?

A question about : Please help me with my new orchid

I was given an orchid for my birthday two months ago and it's still going strong! This is a first as all those I've had previously died on me.

I've kept it in a north facing window away from heat or strong sunlight and watered it from below when the compost felt a bit dry.

Is this right? Should I be doing anything else?

A question about : Landscape fabric: beginner's question

I am setting up a balcony garden from first principles: I have no knowledge or experience of such things.

I learned that you can get black fabric that lets the water through and keeps the soil in. I thought it sounded good, and bought a roll. I intended to use it in pots and containers.

I tested it under the tap, and the water rolled straight off. Will it become permeable once it has been in use for a while, or have I got the wrong type of material?
