What tomatoes do you grow?

A question about : What tomatoes do you grow?

I have an unheated greenhouse and a veg garden, and also some leaky buckets.
I grow Gardener's Delight in both places, and need some new ideas for this year. I need a tasty medium-sized tomato, and fancy a giant one which will do well.
People recommend Red Alert as a good early one but I've had no luck at all with it.

Sub-Arctic Plenty did well in the greenhouse last year.
What tomatoes do you grow?

tomato plants after fruiting.

A question about : tomato plants after fruiting.

Hello,

I have a tomato plant indoors which produced quite a lot of tomatoes last year and one this year. What do you do with your tomato plants after they have fruited? I do not want to kill the plant so am wondering if it is okay to just prune it and leave it where it is?

This particular windowsill and surrounding area needs a good clean so pruning the tomato plant might aid future cleaning of this part of the house.

Thanks.

Suggestions for redundant water butt

A question about : Suggestions for redundant water butt

I had a problem with a water butt - it leaked though couldn't work out how, or where?
It was a final top-up butt that I used when the drain-pipe fed ones were full. But after putting in several feet of water, the next day - all gone - except for a small puddle at the bottom i.e. below the tap!
It has been replaced by a new one from Wilkinson - I like the way the tap just screwed in from the outside.

However, what to do with the old one?

Buying a polytunnel

A question about : Buying a polytunnel

We have a 2m x 5m space on our lotty where there used to be a large greenhouse which didn't survive the February gales, mainly due to the previous plot-holder's lack of maintenance & repairs.

We are considering a polytunnel, and would like advice / recommendations as to best value & best service please.

TIA

Back Garden suggestions and advice needed

A question about : Back Garden suggestions and advice needed

I hope to tackle my back garden at long last, however I am not sure where and how to start. I know I need to have a plan if I am to achieve the garden I want. I hope to set aside a budget of about Ј1500, this would include the purchase of a new garden shed and a lawn mower. I don't know how to post pictures on here.

Garden question

A question about : Garden question

Morning - not sure if this is the correct place for this question but hope for some guidance.

Under my back lawn, along with sheets and sheets of black plastic bags, are some concrete slabs which are now covered in grass. There are also a couple of patches of exposed slabs. I find the exposed ones very slippery, suppose it's cos they've been left to grow algae etc, however they are pretty unsightly too.
