Sa302a

A question about : Sa302a

Hi all,

Just a quick query I hope you might be able to help with. I've been self-employed since September, and so will be due to complete a self assessment after the end of the tax year. I'm hoping to do this in April before I start a new project in May.

Will I be able to obtain a SA302A straightaway from HMRC once the self-assessment has been filed online or is there a delay? Does the tax need to be paid before they will send out a SA302A?

Many thanks,
R

Being paid with goods

A question about : Being paid with goods

Hi Everyone,

One of my clients can't afford to pay me and wants to pay me in goods (To the value of approx Ј2500). Now the work I have done has cost me just time.

Where do I stand re tax and declaring it ? It does have commercial value and I can use the goods within my office. It is not like I purchased it however.

Cheers

MG

Advice wanted for director in small limited company looking to retire

A question about : Advice wanted for director in small limited company looking to retire

    Hi,

I have owned a small service business (hairdressing) with my business partner (equal shares) for 10 years. For personal reasons I want to give up and sell my half of the business whilst my partner wishes to keep the business going (this is not linked to the performance of the business which is continuing to do well).

Why do dividends come with a 10% notional tax credit

A question about : Why do dividends come with a 10% notional tax credit

Assuming corporate tax is taxed at 20%, and a company has Ј100 in net profit before tax. The profit after tax is Ј80. Grossing it up for dividend purposes will give Ј88.89 (Ј80/0.9). This does not represent the basic rate tax of 20%. Can anyone please explain? I recall that it’s got something to do with equalising personal taxation with corporation tax? Thanks.

    Reasonable accountancy fees

A question about : Reasonable accountancy fees

    Hi,

The accountant that was suggested to me just gave me his fee schedule and essentially for Ј1200 it covers the basics of year end prep and dividends and PAYE for the sole director of a limited company.

To me this seems a little steep, as:

I have no stock or premises. All virtual
    Maximum of 8 - 10 invoices a month.
No bad debts, no debts full stop or any other business related loans etc.
    Not VAT registered.
