A question about : Conned by a debt collection company

I am requesting advice on behalf of a friend as he is completely stumped as to what to do next.

He is in the building industry and did some work on a property; he did not get paid, to the tune of roughly 3K. In the end he took it to a small claims court and the judge awarded a CCJ against the customer - still, the customer failed to pay.

A question about : Charity Donation by Text Message

I have a PAYG sim card with a small amount of credit that I'd like to donate to charity. I've been googling how to do it for the last 30 minutes with no luck. I've fathomed out that I text a code and the amount I wish to donate but I can't find any codes on the JustGiving pages I've been looking at.

Here's the JG page for Stephen Sutton as an example, the page has raised ЈЈЈЈЈ and over Ј1,200 by text donations alone, I'd love to add to the fund but how?

A question about : HMRC Records Check Phone Call

Hello there.

I've been self employed for 8 years and received a letter from HMRC recently telling me to give them a phone as they want to perform a Business Records Check. The first step of this is a 15 minute phone call.

I've had a search online and found a list of commonly asked questions. Mostly they seem straight forward, for example how many sales do you take per month. The interviewer then gives the caller multiple choice answers.

I had planned on setting up a web design business but I've never really been motivated enough to really kick start it. I completed a freebie for my friend's sister a while ago & asked her to cover the running costs.

I have been paying the hosting company Ј40 per year and sending her an invoice from me for her business.

Do I need to go through the hassle of properly registering a business with HMRC and submitting a tax return each year for the sake of 40 quid??

I'm self-employed and pay for business insurance on my car. I use the car for both business and personal mileage. My question is; is it in any way a valid business expense, and if so, how much of it is? The business use also covers personal use of the vehicle.
